There is an old KaraokeScene magazine article I am interested in obtaining. It was from 1995 or there abouts. It was about a kj who was murdered after one of his shows in Lakewood Cal. Are there archives for past karaokescene magazines? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, metalgod

I have no idea which issue it was. It might have even been in a different karaoke magazine. If my memory is correct there was two karaoke mags being pressed back in the day. I believe the other was located out of San Diego co. If anyone remembers give me shout out. Thanks ..metal

KARAOKE MURDER (May 20)

A 35-year-old man was killed inside a karaoke bar in the Philippine capital after he refused to stop singing. Danilo Celicious died instantly from multiple gunshot wounds inside a karaoke bar in Manila's suburban city of Quezon on Sunday. According to police, the victim and his friends were drinking and singing inside the bar when another group of men drinking in a nearby table asked that they stop singing. But the victim refused and just continued singing. The suspects attacked the victim and his friends and a brawl ensued. Several gunshots were fired and moments later Celicious slumped on the floor. The suspects fled after the incident.
* Another sensible, er, senseless karaoke death.

"Google" :D

Hey Metal , I live in Lakewood (32 years) and am at least , familiar with just about all the kj's and venues around here , but don't recall anything related to a murdered KJ. However there was an incident a few years ago when a patron was gunned down at the Shuttle Inn nearby.Also an elderly couple were shot to death in a drive-by on Lakewood Blvd. across the street from a K-venue a couple of years ago. and I know of a few strong-armed robberies of KJ's and singers not too far from here. Complete cdg selections ,cell phones, and the wallets of all the patrons in one particular bar were stolen.

This incident happened at the Hide a away bar. They killed this KJ and then stole of his gear. I remember the article stated that after the show was over he hung out in the bar for awhile , then he was attacked after he lwalked out in the back. All I know is for the last 9 years I load my stuff get paid and go straight home. EVERYNIGHT!. If some hottie wants to get to know me I say " I'll be right back as soon as I unload my stuff ". I know that comes off as a little anti social sometimes and I might have hurt a few feelings,BUT, better safe than sorry. I just remembered that it was one of the first articles I ever read on karaoke. And I know for a fact that article opened my eyes to the dangers of this profession. By the way I used to sing at the Shuttle inn back in the day and I went back there about 6 months ago. GOD I'm grateful for all of my wonderful gigs I have today. Jeezzz the places I used to sing at... and those damn DKK only venues........
