Does anyone remember the poll "Nothing to do with ranking.................."?
To all my dear friends out there, when I said
Quote: Blah Blah, Blah Blah, Blah Blah.......................I can see another b***hing session coming on here! For the love of God, nobody here deserves a 10! I meant it in the best of ways! There are so many great singers here, and don't want to start this pissing contest again (and again and again......). So, lets just kiss and make up (accept for ok What Now, I will just hug him in a manly way )

Boy, this topic sure does get heated whenever it comes up doesn't it?? *throws a bucket of ice on this discussion* hehe.. I think we do a pretty good job of discussing it maturely without getting too personal or petty though, and for that I'm thankful cuz i've seen some pretty ugly stuff said when ratings and the like come into question and debate...
I'll be honest... I don't rate anyone here. I'm plumb afraid too, and I figure that most people just like things the way they are anyways. If I were to rate though, I'd have to be honest, and I think that would just be too problematic for most people
When I comment, I do not say all that I mean to say or want to say... I'll admit that, BUT nor do I flat our lie and gush over something that I had problems with. Again, I am afraid to say what is on my mind because I'm afraid of people's sensitivities. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I can get very technical and constructive. (I NEVER bash by the way). I've chosen to abandon my constructive critisicm for the most part because I'm just not sure anyone really cares to hear it, and I hate to tick people off . I'd rather be able to be totaly open because it is in my nature and training to do so, but I withold for now because I am unsure and if people don't really want that here, than I can just be content to just express my joy at getting to hear people's songs.. THAT is genuine, and tho as I said, I won't flat out lie and gush over something that needed work, I will just honestly say that I basically enjoyed listening and they did a nice job and leave it at that.....
Yes Kathy, I did notice what you are talking about too. And I know is doing it.. or at least who was doing it day before yesterday. Not sure if it is the same person today as I have not had a lot of time today with my church duties to be on SS. I was confused, but then I just guessed that that person cannot bring themselves to give any 10's, and that's fine with me. I do wish they wouldn't gush so much and say how incredible and unbelievable they thought something was though.. but there again... maybe that person just can't bring themselves to give 10's and to them a 9 is the top of their "scale" ? That's their perrogotive, and whether or not I agree with that is besides the point, as it is a subjective matter I suppose. I don't care much about the numbers anyways.. I'm just too lazy to check the box not to be rated .. I figure it doesn't really matter either way, so why bother checking it? I leave it open, and whatever happens, happens. Since no real scale is used here anyways, scores are not a big deal... what is a big deal is seeing that number of comments and your friends and new people's smiling faces on your page giving your song a visit
I'm really enjoying this site.. It is well run, and put together, and I am excited to see it grow and get better and better everyday...
Elisha
ohhhh and billy, I ran over to check out your pic, and all I can say is... awwwwwwwwwww

Hey Elisha! You know you can comment on my songs honestly at ANY time!! I know you only give constructive and excellent critique and it won't hurt my feelings in any way! Just ask Heather - she was a big help to me in trying to get me to put more power out in my songs and though I haven't had the chance to record a new one yet - I'm taking all her pointers to heart. So you can let me have it anytime girl!

I wholeheartedly agree that I would rather have comments and constructive criticism than a rating. Of course, I also wished that more people would venture to listen to my subs--- most of my subs receive on average only about 7-10 views; but at least most, if not all have comments. I don't know how this "Number of Views" thing works--- is it the number of times that someone actually chooses to listen to a sub, or what? And, if I don't mind asking, what is the average number of views that you guys get on your subs? Do you guys think that Classical really has no real place here, and if not, do any of you have any ideas of other potential sites that would be a bit more receptive to the classical genre?
Sorry--- didn't mean to rant and rave, but I was just wondering about some of these issue and needed to vent.

hiiiiiiii Moose, hun i normally get like anywhere from 20 to 50 views...keep in mind views r NOT the same as listening, but yes i get a lot of comments also...not trying to throw this in ur face r anything...you just asked is all....and I ty everyone for there comments and for listening....
as far as classical music goes and another site i'm not sure hun...BUT, if i were you and you can't find another site more suited to ur genra of music...i would try and venture into someother genre of music....i think u would have a blast doing it....i just love ur voice and i;m sure u could sing just about anything....buttttt, if u try to singing metal...don't look for me because i won't be there... ... kkkkk....it does seem that other styles of music do get listened to a lot more then classical does....i'm sorry for that hun....but i do think u could pull off another style of music...ur to good not to....JMO....hugssssss

DM,
I think the decision to keep subbing is a very personal one. It should be based on your personal satisfaction. It depends on what you are trying to get from the experience of sharing your music and what you are receiving from doing it. If it's causing you anguish I don't think you're getting what you want from it.
I don't think any one is trying to shut you out on purpose. It's just that most of us don't have the appreciation for the genre of music you enjoy. I personally like to listen to music that I can tap my toes to or sing along with and classical music is meant to be experienced in another way. I will always listen to your subs and comment on them because I appreciate that you are sharing a part of yourself with us, but I can never pretend to understand the passion you feel for it.
I don't know if you know any music that's more mainstream , but maybe you should consider looking for songs that you can still take pleasure in singing that may appeal more to the masses.

DM, you should sing what you want to sing, not go for the easy route that Wannabe suggested Quote: “consider looking for songs that you can still take pleasure in singing that may appeal more to the masses” That’s exactly why this world is such a dump today! Everybody takes the easy road just to appeal more to the masses. No one is thinking for him/her self anymore. This is a democratic virtual world that we live in, and if you want to perform your opera, then do it. Even more, as from now on I’ll support you! I for one can tell you that I do not understand opera music, for the simple reason that I am not educated enough to understand the art. But, the good Lord has given me ears so I can still listen and give you my opinion. And I might be an oldie in some peoples minds, but never too old to learn!

Pay no attention to the guitar wielding lunatic .....he has a tendency to take my words completely out of context.
I was in no way suggesting that you sell out on your art just to make us goons happy. I only meant that if you're lookig for mass appeal then you have to appeal to the masses. If you are looking to express your art the do it, with the understanding that it will not appeal to everyone. I think you'll find your audience it just may take time for us to warm up to it.
