It is brilliant! Having access to any song you need within seconds is the answer I've been waiting for. Put me down for one!

i think the pros of this system are fairly obvious. A legal way to access all of CB songs, including updates.

The one major negative is EASILy fixed. find a way to do it with a separate unlocking program that doesn't require Compuhost.

i don't see Toquer's contributions as topic hijacking.. Someone asked for cons. Being to easily hack the system is a con, even if it doesn't directly affect you.

The only downside to a credit system is if it were eventually pulled and u recieved no credit/refund for unused credits.

Ok, I'm sold on the idea. Going for it. No more ripping discs (at least CB), no more buying a full disc for a handful (or less) songs (at least CB).

I'm so glad to see Chartbuster moving forward. Sound Choice, are you listening?

Done deal. Can't believe my thread made it past 100. Nothing deterred me. Would be a tough choice IF I didn't have compuhost already.

I still like it .....hope I can get answers to my questions from CB soon...then I can try and see if "free"Compuhost will run in the background and not crash our puters...then I only have to convince my hubby

It seems some folks are under the impression that the technology was developed by Chartbuster and Compuhost was chosen as the delivery platform, I was one of them. However, after speaking with CH, it's entirely the otherway around. Compuhost developed the technology and Chartbuster provides the content. It's just another of many reasons that make me glad to be a CH user. If you don't like CH for whatever reason, and chose something else, that's your prerogitive, but quoting the folks at Compuhost, "this was developed for the enjoyment of our users." I asked quite a few additional questions, one of which, IS IT AVAILABLE IN THE FREE CH DEMO? The answer is as I expected, NO. Then again, why should it be? Do you work for free?

I agree with you, this is a great product (I have had mine since last week and run it 4 shows now). Had one issue that was quickly resolved and it has run flawlessly since.
It is the most efficent way to update your library I have seen yet. Now it SC and PHM will jump on board, it is a win win for everyone.

I might be able to answer your questions, PM me when you can. As far as running in background, the free version of Compuhost will not work with the HD. It was designed to run with the unlocked full version only.

This is good news. It means that Compuhost could do the same thing with other providers. Just think how it would be if you could do this with Chartbuster, Sunfly, Sound Choice, etc?

It would become the "iTunes of Karaoke" and COMPLETELY change the game.

I hope it happens.

A question for Rumbolt: Is the hard dive you receive special in anyway? Normal directory structure? Meaning could I copy the contents of the drive to my existing external karaoke drive (1tb) so i don't have to carry around two drives?

might not be able to do that with the locked content but you can copy onto the drive itself according to the FAQS on Compuhost's site although they aren't gonna protect you against loss in case of failure of the drive. You can however copy the unlocked songs to whatever drive you wish.

I understand Danny, but that doesn't achieve the goal of toting around one drive. I have limited USB ports and really don't want to mess with a hub. I am asking if the encrypted (locked) songs are somehow tied to the physical drive you purchase, or if I can move them (file structure and all) to another device for future unlocking. The drive itself may be serialized as well to prevent, for example, Rumbolt from letting his buddy copy the drive..then all they have to do is purchase credits. Then again maybe they don't care about that.

If Compuhost/Chart buster opened this up so that you could EITHER buy a drive and have "at the bar unlock capability" OR internet download from a central server somewhere, it would be a grand slam. The technology is the same really, just the location of the files changes.

If compuhost got Zoom or Soundchoice on board, then I would TOTALLy recant every statement I've made. I would even buy the full version just to be able to use this feature *i like compuhost actually but there are a few things it doesn't do that i wish it did*

I'm waiting for mine to come and will be on board with this marvel of technology. I figuered it was Invicion who created it. They've created the best karaoke hosting software on the planet, and I've tried them all. Everything they do integrates beautifully (FastTracks, Karaoke Kiosk, and now KJ Media Pro HD) with each other. In my opinion, they are as State-Of-The-Art as you can get. And as stated above, just one more thing for their loyal customers who use and support Invicion software.

So, once again, this is Not made my Chartbuster. They're just providing their music library. And if you don't like or won't use CompuHost then move on and stop complaining and deal with the fact that you won't ever be able to take advantage of all the benifits that are yours from being a CH user. This is just another way that Invicion takes care of their customers.

So, to the complainers...enjoy your old fashioned software that gives nothing back to it's customers. But stop complaining about CompuHost and everything they're doing for their customers. Enjoy.

Didn't mean to diss PHM, been buying most their new stuff lately.

C'mon!

What doesn't it do? I'm sure Invicion would work on it.

No they won't work on it because it happens to be something that involves personal preferences - the way rotation is handled. They get too many different requests for automatically handling the way the rotation should be to be able to implement one system that will satisfy the majority.

Now you can do rotation any way u wish manually if your willing to put in the extra effort but i really have gotten used to the way autokdj does it.

It gives new singers priority *nothing new there* unless a previous singer has not sung in X number of minutes, then it will stagger the old singers with the new, and its completely automated.

This system allows me to reward the people who come early to sing more, without unduly punishing the people who show up late because they had something better to do.

Just my opinion

Thanks for the compliment JC.

I've come to the conclusion though that there is no definitive way to make a rotation algorythm that's "always perfect" It's impossible, given that there are so many unpredictability in a night (such as number of singers, when they show up, etc)

10 years of watching rotation, and it's making me think of fractals for some reason. Repeatable patterns with slight variances. Change a few variables here and there, you end up with a completely different picture.

I'm sort of tempted to make some sort of visualiser for this. Would be neat to see a Forrest of fractal trees grow based on the history of how singers interacted with the system. Nothing particularly useful for anybody, just something for me to look at while I zen out.

and you never answered that pm I sent you. Didn't know you were using us either.

For rotation I'm a sing-1 bring-1 guy (computerized of course.) That way you only have people in rotation that actually want to sing. New singers at the end of the line, no bar hoppers please.

But back on topic, I think CB is making a mistake binding their hard drive to to CH. Compuhost probably pitched them the idea looking to make bank on increased sales of their software (SMART) but a lot of folks like me are going to pass because of the increased price. I don't need CH. I've never used it due to my pig headedness and complete lack of interest in software other than my own. I think they would sell a lot more hard drives/songs if they threw in the credit/encryption software free.
