Warning: The quarter you found was not lost, it was placed there by the Obama administration and you are now under constant surveillance. If you give or spend said quarter you will be immediately arrested for money laundering. Please place said quarter back where you found it.

Great... now we need you to submit to an "audit" to "certify" that the quarter is NOT (1) counterfeit and (2) that you acquired it legally. Once this process is in motion, we will need you to get a 6-ton arc welder and permanently weld the aforementioned quarter to the bumper of your car.
You will not be allowed after this to loan your car to anyone and if you sell the car, you have to let us know by sending us a copy of the bill of sale for our files. We purchased the rights to a number of cars a few years back and we've licensed them in the U.K. for driving in the U.S. in case you want to "upgrade" your current car.
New models will not actually have wheels, but they will have an electronic version or picture of wheels that you can lease from us for $1,000.00/ year for the first 5 years. After that, no one will want to ride in your car anyway so we will reduce the price to $33.00/year... forever.
Failure to submit to this audit may result in a lawsuit against you.
It shall be your responsibility to return the 6-ton arc welder at the conclusion of your audit.
Or you could just send us $5,000.00 today and we'll send you this nifty certificate and promise to tell everyone what a swell person you are.
(or you can send us the quarter overnight FedEx.)

Actually, that quarter has been specially marked. It seems there have been multiple pay toilet robberies in your area. Give it a sniff. If it smells like your bathroom probably did this morning, don't tell anyone you have it, and return it to the spot in which it was found- it's bait.....

Posted all in fun everyone....
I guess my response needed a sarcasm clarifier. I only posted to add to the humor. I know you did hiteck I was just trying to be humorous.. Wait can we claim sarcasm or humor after the fact?? Actually it was satire not sarcasm although it was humor, and the answer is it depends on who is using it! Apparently it is OK for some but not for others. To answer the question on the quarter............... If it is income it must be reported and taxed regardless of the amount!

No, not copyright infringement, since I don't own the copyright to quarters. I don't actually have any REAL evidence either, I only saw someone holding it, but that doesn't matter because I don't really intend to see the inside an actual court room, anyway. Since it's apparently already been format shifted without my permission, I definitely have a case. Yes, I know my evidence is only hearsay, but again, it doesn't matter. You're shaking in your boots, aren't you? Pay me $5000 and I'll let you all off the hook and send you a nice, but worthless thank you note. Isn't it prohibited to bring in UK minted quarters to the States, unless, of course, they were brought in before the deadline?

Anonymous? Are you saying that your "investigation" couldn't turn up the name of The Unknown Quarter Picker-Upper??? OK, OK.... If I pay the $5,000, do I get a full set of the State Quarter series that I can tranfer to my piggy bank? Also, if change said set to dollars, would that be considered shifting without permission?

I can only assume that I wasn't named because I had my entire collection on display and certified as genuine by an authority in numismatics.
If I exchange my quarter(s) for legal tender, I haven't shifted - I've exchanged.
When the bank takes my cash and the same amount appears as a credit on my balance & my atm card, the bank has done the shifting, not me.

Doesn't matter that you have had your collection certified since it wasn't by me. It simply doesn't count. Now pay me $7000 and I'll issue you my "proper" certification.

I am offended by this entire thread and i think Jian should ban everyone who has posted on it.
This entire thing has been nothing but satire as no one can prove that there ever was a quarter.

You want to see my proper certification? . See you in court... if you can take the risk of revealing your true identity.
