c. staley wrote: MtnKaraoke wrote: c. staley wrote: So Murray, is your suggestion if you have SC tracks on a computer, to simply continue along using them until they eventually sue you for trademark infringement, or go back to lugging your discs around? Because your statement is an easy one to make from Alberta since we've not seen a single lawsuit in your area.
(Don't suggest to submit to a vendor audit - it's out of the question with me.) What is your suggestion? My suggestion is not free. MtnKaraoke wrote: How could you trust but verify? See above. MtnKaraoke wrote: Didn't you indicate in the past that you had simply removed SC from your library? Absolutely. And like you, I'm out to protect my business AND my relationships with my customers (the clubs who pay me). If I continue to use SC on a computer - no matter how many of their discs and custom discs I've already purchased - there will be a lawsuit in the future. And recent events prove that they will also simply sue the clubs (my customers) if they don't get an immediate settlement. The simplest, fastest, cheapest method to avoid all this unnecessary aggravation and protect MY business and MY customers is simply to drop THEIR brand. A copy of their latest suit against a slew of clubs has done nothing but further cement my customers relationships and reinforce my decision to drop them as a prudent one. It hasn't hurt my business one little bit.... (are you writing all this down Athena? I'm still waiting for your stalking report.) Exactly. Also, at this point, I know of VENUE OWNERS who specifically tell their KJ that they may not play SC tracks- even disc based- at all. Also, you're right about no business loss. I have NEVER had more than about 30 SC discs in my library- they mean nothing to me OR my singers.

hey guys it would be a lot easier to just accept that things may be different in different areas.....I have spoke with host across the country and there are many things that appear to be regional ...and not to be snarky but in Joe's case we are looking at New Jersey and people in New Jersey as a whole do tend to react in ways very different than those in California, Wisconsin, Tennessee or Florida, Ect and they all tend to react different than each other. We each should know our own market...what works in one area may or may not work in another. If we stop beating on each other about things that may be true in another area we may find some solutions to problems that we all face......IMHO there are certain points where agreeing to disagree just make sense.

Satire A text or performance that uses irony, derision, or wit to expose or attack human vice, foolishness, or stupidity. Verb: satirize. Adjective: satiric or satirical.
Example: someone stupidly states, "many venues in my area are stopping karaoke because of the lawsuits!"
When no lawsuits had been filed in their area!
The satire is the "statement" your quote is refering to!

This is what you claimed: Quote: New Jersey venues were stopping karaoke at a rate of 4 bars a day when they heard that Sound Choice was going to be going after pirates (must have been a lot of venues there using pirate host). There is nothing satirical in that quote Joe ask for proof Give us the proof and I will 'unwarn' your post.

The Cozy Tavern in Teaneck is no longer even listed in the yellow pages, perhaps you were refering to the Cottage Inn which does have karaoke and out of the owners mouth, 201-692-0016, there is no restriction on the brands used at the show that he knows of. Talked to the manager at Abbey Road in Clifton, (973) 253-0020, Karaoke is tomorrow night starts at nine, he doesn't know if the KJ has Sound Choice products but there is no restriction on it's use. Is there really any need to continue?

Yes he can can't he except he didn't pose a satirical composition did he? Right here! Jian wrote: This is what you claimed: Quote: New Jersey venues were stopping karaoke at a rate of 4 bars a day when they heard that Sound Choice was going to be going after pirates (must have been a lot of venues there using pirate host). There is nothing satirical in that quote Joe ask for proof Give us the proof and I will 'unwarn' your post. You can't offer proof to a satirical composition (with an intelligent reading most people would already know that) but if you can't quote the entire composition then that leaves room to question the intelligence used in comprehension of satire! But in case you had a public school education <(note the satire) I will post the actual qoute here for you and try to break it down to it's simplest form for your understanding <(note satire again)! And you can keep your warning in place since you are counting down with Joe and Chip and the rest of the err whatever they support <(is not satire) on finding whatever excuse you can find to ban me from this site. Unless you are from New Jersey <(duh that wouldn't be a clue that it was satirical would it?), there it was happening when Sound Choice was just talking about it (wow that one was so subtle), in New Jersey venues were stopping karaoke at a rate of 4 bars a day <(one couldn't possibly take this as satire could they (4 bars and karaoke get it?), since New Jersey is next to the smallest state in the union and this has been (talked about for over a year that would mean that more than 1500 bars in New Jersey have already stopped doing karaoke, care to guess how many bars are listed in the New Jersey directory for karaoke? Put it this way there hasn't been karaoke in the State of New Jersey for more than 6 months) when they heard that Sound Choice was going to be going after pirates (must have been a lot of venues there using pirate host). (A business is going to stop doing something because they "HEARD" that someone had been sued for it. That would mean that all restaurants would have stopped serving food because Chi Chi's was sued over a food poisoning case! that is why it is called satire)But I really don't expect someone with your education to understand this <( opps more satire)BTW before you "blow up" over the education comments ask if anyone here knows what my education level is? (that is what makes it satire!)

Jian, Just one more little thing that probably went right over your head (oops that darn satire again)Joe never asked for proof, I think he actually was smart enough to know it was satire! Quote: Name them or stop posting falsehoods! Note the smiley face at the end of the quote, it is there for a reason!
