I AGREE WITH YOU, WHAT NOW, ON THE BUSINESS AND JOB PART...JUST LIKE A NIGHT OF KARAOKE IS FUN, BUT LUGGING THAT EQUIPMENT AND SETTING UP AND TEARING DOWN AIN'T NEAR AS MUCH FUN.....MATTER OF FACT IT VERY CLOSLEY RESEMBLES WORK...ESPECIALLY ON A RAINEY NIGHT.....KINDA LIKE MOWING THE YARD, FUN WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE IT....OR BOWLING ON A LEAGUE, FUN WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE IT, AND A BIG PAIN WHEN YOU ARE OBLIGATED AND NOT UP TO IT....
SOMETIMES, I AM NOT SURE THE FAMOUS PEOPLE OF THIS OLE WORLD HAVE IT SO GOOD. LIKE, FROM THE WORLD WATCHING THEIR BUTTS GROW IN THE PICTURES IN THE TABLOIDS, TO THE LACK OF PRIVACY THEY CAN HAVE AS A FAMILY... FAME DOES HAVE IT'S PRICE....
LULY, FROM WHAT I HEARD OF THE THEATRE SONG YOU DID I WOULD AIM MYSELF IN THAT DIRECTION...THOSE FOLKS GET ALOT OF EXPOSURE
AND THERE ARE MANY AVENUES OF EXPRESSION THERE...
KEEP YOUR DREAM ALIVE THO AS I SAID BEFORE WHEN YOU GIVE UP YOUR DREAMS, YOU'RE DEAD...I AM REALLY NOT AIMING TO DISCOURAGE YOU....
I LIKED YOUR COMENT ABOUT HOW YOU GOT HOOKED ON KARAOKE THOUGH...I HAVE SEEN IT SO MANY TIMES....HAPPENED WITH MY HUBBY...YOU BEG AND BEG AND BEG SOMEONE TO SING, AND THEN ONCE THEY FEEL THE RUSH, THEY ARE DYING TO PUT THE NEXT SONG UP....I GUESS WE ALL DEEP DOWN WANT TO FEEL APPRECIATED......
YOU KEEP THOSE TUNES COMING GIRL....I WISH I KNEW ENOUGH TO HELP YOU...TRY YOUR LOCAL MUSIC STORE....OR ANY GOOD PUTER GURU YOU KNOW AND THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO COME TO YOUR HOME AND SET YOU UP....IT WOULD BE WORTH THE PRICE TO BE ABLE TO SING WHEN YOU WANT TO FOR US...WELL WE THINK SO ANYWAYS...
RIGHT GANG? SING LULY, SING GAL, YOU'RE UP NEXT, HUN....

hi again. they had a karaoke contest here at a local casino, first place was $10,000.... i thought well the cream of the crop will turn out for this one for sure....just so happens i was able to go to the last night of the contest....the finale 10 were singing.... only 1 guy sang a country song which surprised me, 6 were black females 1 white female and 1 black guy, and 1 i'm not sure what she was... ...anywho... the country singer brought the house down, i think he invited his town to listen... ..the rest sang power songs....but 1 girl sang an oldies song and wore it out....singing wise i had heard better but she had it all....they had top notch judges also...lead guitar player for alabama was a judge....well the girl that sang the oldies song won it...and i think she should have.....truth is i honestly think i stood half a chance in that contest, but i was thinking that the best of the best would show up...that wasn't the case at all...
soooooooo, haveing said alllll that... ...Luly i think entering contest might be the way to go....in big contest u get great exposer, plus the money..... it would be a great stepping stone to what u really want ....something to think about...i heard a lotta singers do just that, travel around entering contest.....i entered 2 contest...I won 1 and came in second on the other...some last min girl wore my butt out... ...she was great, i was proud to come in second to her.... COME TO THINK OF IT SHE LOOKED ALOT LIKE YOU...hmmmmmmm...
JUST TRYING TO HELP.....THE END....

Luly, I agree very much with What Now...
If you don't want it to become a job, don't look to make it to the big time.
I just have fun doing my circuit gigs, even if I was in a position to have a real go at the real thing, I don't think I would want to...
That's something you need to consider carefully before deciding how far you want to take your singing

PLEASE turn off your caps lock! Typing in all caps is considered to be shouting, which is considered to be rude in most discussion forums.

Connie, Billy, Atomic, Krystle, Barry, all you guys (forgive me if I left anyone out), thank you so much for responding and trying to help.
You all gave great advice and stories. I don't know what the future holds (who does), but I know if an opportunity presents itself, I will take it. I do plan on being proactive, not just sitting on my laurels. There are a couple of contests in town I've been eyeing with cash prizes. It would be nice if someone with connections were to be around. Sometimes it's just being at the right place at the right time. Hey, Billy, where was this contest with the Luly clone??
I do need to get some original material. I don't know the first thing about picking a songwriter or anything. I just need a lot of help because I'm very naive when it comes to all this. I may be savvy in other areas, Connie, but I'm a total virgin when it comes to the music business.
I know this would be a job, what I meant was I would want it to be something I loved so much that I wouldn't consider it to be a job.
Thank you guys, for all the compliments and inspirations!
Last night I downloaded Adobe Audition and I'm trying to figure out how to record. Arggghhh! I'm not exactly a rocket scientist, but I'm also not a total dingbat! (my hubby might disagree ) I think I'll do what you said, Connie and get some professional help (for the computer AND my nerves!). In the meantime, I'm enjoying you guys. What could be better than having karaoke available 24/7!!

Ya that Kcultist is missing something allright. Talkin about gettin' uptite what a crock! As I started reading the thread I was joyed by these two nice ladies having a chat about their dreams and aspirations. Then read in shock as liver lips slammed 'em to the ground. I was definitely relieved to see all the support from the members coming forth. Luly was one of the few people to comment on my sub's and I love hers a whole lot. Phil hit it on the head when he said that she's had alot of posts for a newbie. Without question, Luly has been extremely supportive, kind and considerate to everyone here. I would hope that Kcultist would have a fat enough sack to issue apologies.
Hope you ladies can get over the Bad karma there!

Thank you Budacris. And thanks to all of you for coming to my defense and that of ritisroo. It's clear "liver lips" will not be issuing any apologies as his nature is to provoke and antagonize, from what I've heard. Maybe someday he'll learn that getting along and being nice is so much better, and really not that difficult!
Hey, I'm not Doris Day or Ms. Hospital Corners, I just prefer to always take the high road. Does wonders for the soul.

Thanks, Budacris! Appreciate the feedback!
As Luly said, I don't think that he is going to comment here again, after he sees all the support from the members. It is nice to know that so many people can all support each other!
As for the karma, what comes around, goes around

NOTE:
As a general rule typing in all caps is a designated (sp?) as shouting further it is considered rude by many.
I, personally, find it difficult to read. As it is for me when someone doesn't punctuate or separate into paragraphs... That's my hang up!
Luly - that was even more difficult to read
-----
Just my input...

I know, I know....just seemed kinda trivial when Connie was trying so hard to help. But I can see your point, it's considered bad etiquette. Connie, you can PM me in caps anytime you want, sweets! Love ya!!
