HI
I am running laptop for my karaoke, when I plug into the TV out the picture is fine but there are a lot of times when I need to run two TV’s. As soon as the second TV is plugged in the picture is very poor is there a solution to this, that you know of.. I put this question to a Tec forum on the Internet but all that came back was a chap from Florida saying
Hell no problem just go to your nearest radio shack and ask for a booster
But every where I have been here in the UK don’t seem to have a clue ? And say a booster will not do the job. And don’t know what will ???
If you can possibly shed any light at all on this problem
I would be much obliged
Regards chadda

Chadda,
What you need is an RF modulator, (also known as an RF rectifier).
This will rectify, (change), the video output from your laptop into a coaxel output. It will also do the same for the audio output but you probably won't use it for this.
You can find an RF modulator at Radio Shack for about $30 U.S.
Magnavox also makes them for the same price.
You can also find them at www.partsexpress.com/
Search for RF modulators.
You should also be able to find them at any A/V shop or at Walmart if you have them in the UK.

:D Thanks very much kojak. For your reply could you tell me exactly the name and model number of the RF modulator that I would need. The reason I am asking is that I surfed the net and the list of RF modulator was quite baffling
Once a gain thank you
Regards chadda

ANY RF modulator converts a RCA connection to COAX... then you would get a standard Coax-splitter.

and a better site

http://www.starlink-dss.com/modulator.html

you will also need a splitter if going to more than 1 tv by the way I am not sure if you guys over ther use pal or ntsc. so make sure it is compatible with the tv's

rca makes one that switches to either

Chadda, you can just go to Radiioshack.com and type in "RF Modulator" ont their website.

I'm not kidding... ANY RF Modulator will work. The makes and models are baffling, cause everybody and their brother make them. ANY will work. So don't worry about which one works best. A RF Modulator is a R.F. (radio frequency) Modulator.

I could look up a website, but I don't know which one would best serve you... where you're located, NTSC/PAL, etc.

Once you have it in your hot little hands, there is a switch (usually) on the back that is a frequency setting... play around with it... it'll react to your PAL/NTSC voltage...

for us here in the States, certain wavelengths (i.e. colors) are restricted with the wrong stitch setting. YELLOW comes out white, so some cdgs act like they're not really swiping, but in effect, they are... you just have to adjust the modulator while it's playing to see which setting works best for you. Once you have it set, it's perfect and can be installed with no other messing around with it...
