Y' know what- I say we "don't knock it till we've tried it". We should just get it going, and see how everyone likes it. If it's a bomb, and causes problems, then it could be changed. It's kinda hard to say how it will really go until we try. Aparently enough people on here think it's worth a shot.
It will be fun if nothing else.
One more question though, since I plan to be a big spectator on how it's going: the ones who want critique- are the rest of us going to be able to read these critiques? Or will they be private for the singer only?
Sorry if this has been answered already, but I didn't see it anywhere.

With ALL due respect to #1 Phill, and Brian,and Tony,and everyone else here who are working hard to figure it all out. After spending Hours reading posts about this ranking thing, Here's how I feel...For me personally I listen to a sub and and I decide if I would just as soon hear a givin song posted on the showcase as I would the original(or more so in several cases). If so That's a 10 to me. If not I won't rank at all, but I also try to read some of the singers previous replys to comments given them from others to try and figure out if they really want to know that they need to work on some things.Some do, and some I think get discouraged by comments.So for some I may leave some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism hopefully for the benifit of the singer who posted it. I guess it's that old addage "if ya' can't say somethin' nice...". Anyhoo,Thanks "ALL" for your time and effort to make this place cooler than cool !

Okay, I think I will impliment a few of the changes this weekend...
Look for them starting later tonight!

Currently they will be public. If people decide they want them private I will try to create an option later that will allow private comments.
I'll be working on that this weekend also.

NOTE:
If anyone wishes to purchase these options, but does not want to use PayPal, you may contact Karaoke Scene and purchase any of the memberships with a check or credit card.

Plus = $12.50 per quarter -> $50.00 for 12 month minimum
Deluxe = $25 per quarter -> $ $50.00 for 6 months minimum
Premium = $50 per quarter minimum

Everyone can still comment. (working on implementing the Just for Fun & Critique options)

Ranks are displayed only as overall and there must be at least three ranks provided prior to the overall being displayed.

Need to update a few pages and I need to delete all old ranks provided prior to July 9th, 2004.

Okay, I haven't finished but I think I have a good start.

Been back on here since 11am (Eastern) trying to make some changes/fixes.

My kids are visiting for a few weeks and I am going to spend some time with them. (Hope y'all don't mind.)

I will be back later tonight. If there is anything you catch that needs to be fixed - either post it here or PM me. I'll get to it.

Karaoke is just for fun..for most people..that to me is why the do not rate option is a MUST..

However...some of us..really DOOOO enjoy learning how to be even better..for reasons of our own..

Mine? well I am by nature a learner..I want to do things WELL..humm could be a compulsive disorder BUT...i dont have aspirations of becoming the next Reba ...I DOOOO enjoy recording...having my friends, family , coworkers and patients really enjoy the cd's i give them. SOO learning all the recording tips I can ..is important so that I can give them something with quality.

Recording and singing live are obviously two completely different things..because this is the internet..this particular site requires us to record..why not do the best job of it possible with whatever equipment you have ? why settle for static and overly verbed etc..when you can easily wash it out of ur recordings?

I dont pretend to think I know it all..trust me.. and I know my l imitations with my equipment...I am not a computer guru..so I have to wade through programs like anyone else...but its doable yALL!

RATINGS-i like being rated.. i like the number that backs up the critique..sometimes words dont say it all...i dont care one way or the other if its anonymous...i chose to have the naive way of thinking that someone who is doin a critique is tryin to help me not hurt me...

OPTIONS- when you give options such as to rate or not to rate..then i think as a webmaster you have done your job. choices..eeek ..we have to make them

GROUP OF JUDGES...been there done that..sigh..quit. after listening to the same songs five times so that I could back up my score with exactlly what i heard or didnt hear..then rating...probably higher than the sub deserved...i found that alot of the people who voted me in as a judge suddenly no longer liked my opinion. before I was a judge..i could give tens all day long and just enjoy hearing my friends post..when it was a responsibility i took seriously..i found out how quickly you can get deleted from buddy lists and email...JUST SAY NO TO GROUPS EEK!~

when you take all these talents, personalities and opinons..and u block them into one website..people will disagree...but i think everyone has an opinion and should be permitted to express that without fear of being bashed...

I belonged to another site for over a year..i was a very active member..i had alot of friends there..well i thought i did...the admin of that site was NEVER available..to assist users...Mods were left to handle everything without any power to fix things other than leave messages that admin was contacted..THIS SITE..is run much better..the features..are not bad at all ... i wish i could download my favorite songs to keep though

It hasn't taken much to figure out who the PAID MEMBERS WHO ARE THE "10" GIVERS ARE!

All anybody has to do is look at the scored posts and look for the patterns...

It still seems like this not working quite right yet!

Geez, all these fixes... I keep finding errors? Double posts when you edit your comments <Scratching head> can't seem to figure that one.

I appreciate everyone's input and ideas. I still want you to give me more. It is you folks that help make this site so much fun.

When it comes to modifications I try to implement as many of the features that you all suggest. Of course, the people that own this site, ultimately have the final desicion.

Here are some items that I added:

• Views - everytime someone listens to the song there is a counter.
  These are displayed in the following areas.
  • User's Profile
  • Song details
  * visible only to the submittor
• Only Overall Rank displayed
  • no individual ranks shown!
  • Ranks are not diplayed until at least 3 are given
  • Only Paid Members may rank. - Should this be changed back to all members?
• Created New Memberships
  • PLUS
    File Size: 4 Mb
    Archived: 10 songs
    Daily Upload: 2 Songs
  • DELUXE
    File Size: 5 Mb
    Archived: 25 songs
    Daily Upload: 5 Songs
  • PREMIUM
    File Size: 7 Mb

I think it's the biggest pain yet. Or keep it and let ALL members rank on the same situation. cause it's the biggest Bias I have seen yet on this board .. too much of a competition..

If not i'll just stop submitting songs and take my microphone and go back to the local shows.. and it's see ya later cause this is definately no fun at all..

What I am looking at is whether All members should rank or just the Paid?

The descision of whether or not individual ranks wil be shown has already been decided.
Only Overall Ranks will be shown after 3 have been given.
