I am a beginning KJ and have already purchased a Peavey XR 600 powered mixer. I am happy with the performance of this mixer, but would like to have a mounted mixer/amp. Is there anyway to rack mount this unit??? I have a JVC triple tray player also. Currently I use a small table to sit both pieces. I would rather have them rack mounted. Is there a good way to mount this???

I had the same set up when I first started. Could never figure away to rack it up. I just raced up the player , burner, tape, cd stuff and let the peavey stand free. Dont you just love the freakin effects set up on the 600? I swear by myvocals on that peavy. I have numerous effects but I love my peavy still to this day. Good luck and have fun. P.S Keep it COOL.

I have nearly the same thing you have, except I use the XR696F instead. Basically the same powered mixer. I agree with metalgod. Rack everything and set the XR600 up next to it. Besides, think of the weight of the rack with everything in it PLUS the mixer-amp. Still, if you're determined, I don't see why you couldn't make some stout ear brackets and screw them into the sides of the mixer-amp housing. Be careful not to jar it much though since the pressed wood wouldn't take much abuse witht 50 lbs. being placed on the screws. However, if you just secure the XR600 in the bottom of a wheeled rack, I bet you'd be okay. Have fun.

If you're determined to rack mount it, look around for rack mount shelves. (Musicians Friend, Sam Ash, Guitar Center etc.) I've mounted my monitor amp to one of these shelves by removing the rubber feet on the bottom and getting longer screws for them, then drilling holes in the shelf to match and re-attaching through the shelf. But like Marty said, depending on the size of your rack, keep it low or you'll be top heavy and prone to tip over.

That model is designed to be a table top model & not racked. You might be able to have a custom rack built for it but it will be costly & really serve no purpose other than now you have a racked table top model.

Dave Rat, Of Rat Sound, (a major player in the touring audio industry) out of the LA area just announced in ("Front Of House") FOH Magazine that the next 3 tours in the fall of 2004 will contain Peavey "Line arrays" designed in cooperation with him and Peavey out of Peavey XR series Boxes with XR series speakers in them for arena and club use.

The team doing this has now adopted the standard like I have personally. "less boxes is more".

Although they seem to contain alot higher power drivers and speakers and electronics.

Look for this new system from Peavey to be on the streets or more news in mid-late 2005, with a new name or model number. As "line array" technology is making stacking speakers obsolete.

They have been seen with a few XR series consoles at smaller events already.. makes ya think about the future.
