As a frequent Karaoke singer, I'm always looking for a challenge. Does anyone know any good ones that are tough? (male or female! I'm a contralto)

Here are some I thought of, but haven't tried yet

Snow - Informer
INXS - I Need You Tonight/Mediate
REM - It's the End of the World
Bjork - Human Behavior
Cyndi Lauper - I Drove All Night

ANy suggestions?

I can think of some very hard ones--- would you be willing to do opera? (for a contralto, how about some Samson and Delilah or possibly Carmen, just to name a couple)

There are CD+G discs which have opera arias that you can sing. They are available through Music Minus One.

If you're looking for toughies, two that I've been working on that are in the same vein as the REM song you mention are Hook by Blues Traveller and One Week by the barenaked ladies. After a lot of work, I've also mastered Another Postcard by BNL.

On those songs you really have to memorize the damn things because they go by so fast.

Good luck and have fun!

Here is my list of the toughest songs to sing in karaoke.

R.E.M.'s: End of the World As We Know It
Garth Brooks': Ain't Going Down 'Til The Sun Goes Up
Eminem's: Without Me
Nelly's: Hot in Herre (Radio Edit)
Rocky Horror Picture Show: Time Warp (Doing the WHOLE song solo) :P

That is just a sample.

a few Of my favorite "Hard Songs To Sing" are:

1. Third Rock From The Sun- Joe Diffie..... A really fast song
2. One Week-Bare Naked Ladies.... Still Trying To Get This One and I refuse to do it in public till I can nail it.
3. I Didn't Even Know Her Name-Alan Jackson.... also fast

I Like trying the challenging songs, the fast ones.. etc, but one that really wears me out is Follow Me, by Uncle Cracker...... Does this guy ever breathe?????

Michael & Sharon

I'll never let you go ( angel eyes ) by a band called Steelheart. Its on sound choice headbangers hits. The lead singer also sang on the Rock Star movie. 5 and half octave range. Also the lead vocal on Its a Shame by the spinners,on another sound choice disk. WOW that is one KILLER vocal track. If ya get a chance check them out....

Its hard to say which songs are difficult... whats impossible for one is a breeze for another...

One you might like to try tho...

I don't know if you've heard of the Eurythmics (British 80's band), lead singer Annie Lennox..

They released a track called "There must be an angel playing with my heart" which I have NEVER heard anyone nail.

I've had a go at it myself and by the end I was laughing so hard it made my sides hurt ;)
