I recently view the tony awards site. www.tonyawards.com and saw who is up to win this years award. I think everyone should check out the musical NEXT TO NORMAL..click on their website and hear the hottest music around ...Hopefully some of these song will make it on karaoke soon

Next to Normal looks good but I think Billy Eliot with music by Sir Elton John will get it. The Norman Conquests look interesting to me.

Well, if anyone puts them out on CDG, it will probably be Pocket Songs/Just Tracks or Stage Stars (or both). They do most of the Broadway stuff. My preference goes towards Pocket Songs and Just Tracks (same company as PS). They KNOW how to do Broadway right!

I listened to Billy Elliot and was not impressed. Matter of fact, I am not impressed with Elton John since Aida. Lestat was a total failure. I hoped Billy Elliot would have been better but it wasn't. I hope he doesn't quit doing musicals, just better ones in the future.

Twelve pages and growing. A lot of my early evening regulars sing showtunes and have a lot of stuff that I don't have yet. A theater group came in about 6 months ago and saw my selection and stayed the whole evening. About half the group have become regulars and most of the rest stop in once or twice a month. Only problem is, they're like ballads, too many to close together can kill a good buzz in the room.

I don't know of many KJs who carry a large Broadway selection in their libraries. I am of (what I perceive to be) a minority that boasts about having a large Broadway collection in my library. I've got 709 Broadway songs in my Library and still growing... 19 pages in my books (but the way I have my fonts set up, I get 35 per page, per side), so that sounds about comparable to yours and Karen's collection (assuming you both have more listed per page than I do).

I'm using KJ Pro w/two columns per page so I'm getting between 50 to 60 songs per page per side.
I got a large portion of my showtunes when I was just buying for myself and friends. They were songs I liked and were fairly easy to sing (Sound of Music, Music Man, Etc...). I had the basic stuff from DK and Sound Choice and then I found Stage Stars and Pocket Songs and just went nuts.
Shows that are getting a lot of play right now:
Rocky Horror (always)
Little Shop of Horrors
Rent
Jekyll & Hyde
Wicked
and my favorite, just about anything from The Producers.
Haven't gotten much new lately as I've been ripping disks as fast as I can and tomorrow is the official transition from disk to laptop. My Birthday's tomorrow and I figured that the perfect present to myself and my singers was Compuhost.
