Sheree,
I totally agree, I work on even bigger end programs like Cakewalk's Sonar 3 and Pro Tools HD & 192, and just to get them to fit the mold for what is required for this forum, it is overkill and it's amazing that such great tools, overkill as they are, really don't do the job as well as the simple ones. But they sure sound great on a mastered CD. Here some short cuts have to be made to put songs in for submission. It's really a different world than recording for a release.

I have posted my personal criteria on a separate post PROVIDING AN ACCURATE & EQUITABLE RATING. Reading all your comments here, I wish to add this.

As a music adjudicator and a vocal coach, I always feel that when I am asked to judge (competitions), my first concern is "How can I help someone perform better?" Therein lies my responsibility.

There is something unique here, however. I do not have the benefit of a "live" performance and my ears could be deceived by technological limitations. I rank live performance in 3 categories: music, staging, and interpretation. Here, I can only listen to music and interpretation. The others have pointed out some of the areas (pitch accuracy, rythm/timing, emotions/interpretation) as the major creteria.

I believe that if we are to help others to develop ranking abilities, we must provide them with a method of ranking that is acceptable to everyone. This is what we do before a competition. WE tell the contestants the basis of our final votes and we also clearly identify the reasons or factors considered for the votes cast. That is how we help them become better performers.

Being that nobody can be fair in the rating or comments.. I have decided not to rank the songs anymore.. maybe I'll comment if they worthy of a comment. if they are noteworthy. being nobody can grow up. I gave honest evals of thier songs.. I think (and I can't speak for , But I am assuming) that Singing Fool has also gotten sick of the BS also.

BTW The e-mails to my Addy are being saved and tracked to your IP addy. Thanks for the threats.

FYI: Internet Threats are a Federal Offense. I will deal with them personally.
