Yes it can, I just tagged a wave file using Itunes and it worked fine

But I still think that compressed at 320k with the latest lame encoder and of course, MOST IMPORTANT, a good software to extract that doesn't affect the sound quality

Having a wave file that was extracted with the wrong software is a mistake, a software with the Bass engine would be my first option
