They just never return.

Again, I have to disagree. Most of us were singers first and THAT'S WHY we run the rotations we run.
Because we KNOW how it feels.
If anything, our knowledge of how shows are run tends to lead us to cut the KJ's some extra slack that we wouldn't normally, if we had been "average" customers.
