Hey All,

Does anyone know an easy way to change the disc numbers in KJ PRO? I want to use my own indexing system where I use a 2 character manufacturer code followed by a 4-digit number, and then a 2-digit track number.

How do I change these? Do I use excel?

Any help would be appreciated!

dude, that's why I use excel. Import the list, and then manually make the changes. Or you could create a whole other column, just for your specific codes... that way you'd never get confused on what you have from what manufacturer!

I thought that was a pretty easy program to use - bummer

You're probably going to end up exporting it to excel and re-importing it Kj Pro

You can contact Kjpro from their site, maybe there's a easier way

I export to excel and use the "concatenet" function or the like to merge the values in numerous fields (mfg code, disc#, and track #) into one value.

Under "Main Songbook" - "View/Add Songs" you will see a button marked Change Disk Numbers. That's your Huckleberry. It's a pretty easy procedure, it even prints a report of the changes that were made. You can go export into excel but I don't see the need. For example, just change DKDX3062 to DK01(or whatever) and your done. When I did this I just remarked all my disks with a magic marker and white-out to match the numbers I gave them in the book.

I tool all my Charbuster disks, and re marked them from CB01 to CD153 regardless of all the CB, CBX, CBH crap. when I get a new disk I just mark it CB154 change the number in KJ Pro and I'm done.

No more looking for the obscure number on the disk in the dark.

I use a system similar to what you're wanting to do, but I use the MBD. There should be a step when you select a disc to enter or edit that you can access the numbering sequence. Then change it and the program should recognize what the next logical one would be. That way you could change whole series at a time. I just don't know what it is in KJP. If you can't find that, ya might have to go to edit and then edit each disc/track element - hope not.

I just thought on one other thing. Will KJP allow you to export/import to/fm excel? If so, maybe that's the way to do it. Export it to excel, make the changes, then import back to KJP.

I know I can edit a disc number in KJPRO I was just looking for a way to automate the process. Doing it one by one will be a pain in the a**!

I think exporting to excel, changing the numbers, and then importing back into KJ Pro may be the answer.

just remember, in excell, if it's sorted by disc and track number, you can merely highlight and change the number one track, and then click on the lower right hand part of the cell, and drag downwards. It'll be highlighted, and you'll see the tracks change (02, 03, 04 etc.)

Shouldn't take that long to do the various discs you have. I did it with over 900 discs!

Thanks Matt. I just got 500 univenture sleeves and I am going to try and tackle the indexing thing this weekend. Hopefully, by taking advantage of excel's tools I can get it done in a reasonable amount of time.

kjpro does this so easy why not let it do it. you shange the number by disks, and it makes all the changes. what could be easier. I dont understand why one would go to excel to do what kjpro will do automaticaly?

That is exactly how I did it! I decided I would just bite the bullet and change each disc number in KJPro and it ended up being easier. I have them all in view paks and numbered and I am going to work on my books next weekend. I am getting really excited for the first show!!

Whats the going rate for KJPro software????

I would do it on a spreadsheet, so I could protect the original "disc" numbers... this way, there's no doublechecking for duplication.

Once you alter the original data, there is a serious room for errors to creep in!
