Silly Question
Do all CDG's play on standard DVD players ???
or just some of them? Some CDG's? or some PLAYERS?
I wasn't aware my CDG would play on my DVD player until I tried it tonight at home.....Have I just been blind to this fact?

You're one of the lucky ones!
Most dvd players don't see them. Maybe it's a new thought behind the recent dvd players. Karaoke has become very mainstream.
I've only known about some APEX cheap dve players that work with cdgs!

I do that too... I think I posted on here a while ago that some of the more graphically intense splash pages for the beginnings of dvds may not work. For LORD OF THE RINGS it would have a big black box on the inside. If you were just going to watch the dvd, you could hit the PLAY button, and it was all good, but if you wanted the special features, you were S.O.L.!! !
So far, that was the only dvd I had trouble with. All others I TRIED were fine. It's part of my permament system, so I've not had the opportunity to try since!

oh yeah, for playing vids, I have had far more luck with the Rsq505 than I have the JVC triple! For some reason, it doesn't recognize ALL vcd formats!

Hey Jam,
Let us in on the secret, what brand and model dvd player do you have? My wife has been bugging me the the RSQ 505 sometimes doesn't read some DVD's until I unplug it to reset.
As a matter of fact we should have a thread about players and stuff that performs better than expected.

I have an ELECTROHOME EH8169 dvd player a real cheapo i bought at a grocery store called maxi in Montreal Canada. I payed a whopping $79.99 Canadian for it and it plays CDG's . I'm in the process to see if i can burn my cdg collection onto some blank DVD's to see if they will play in that format. Hopefully they will cause it sure would lighter the load to have to carry around. Figure 10 CDG's will fit on 1 DVDhmmmm Intersesting ?

Hey Robdog38 I've got the 8168 myself and my partner has one for backup for his Pioneer twintray. They will not play customs or mediacloq discs though. There is no much of a cue up delay. It's great for a Chinese contingent that come to our show to play their vcds.
As for converting your cdgs I have no idea.

It probably could work. I have a DVD burner, and honestly never gave it a thought. I use it for pure data storage!
