This might very well be the the most professional karaoke web site I have done yet.
I personally dont like the header yet.. I do want you to check out the features and give suggestions on color or presentation..
thanx

I haven't been there in a while, but I clicked your link and browsed around a bit. I like it, very user friendly and it's all pretty n' sparkly in there. I say ya did a great job...... and I'll try to start being there more often from time to time.

Easy reading with good information. Check the spelling and punctuation for a more professional look. The same rules apply to a website as would apply when you write a resume. Although this is not a big issue, spelling errors are annoying.

i SECOND that opinion. No offense Ollie but I won't/can't read most of your posts because without proper punctuation and constant run-on-sentences, they don't make sense, unless you read them over and over and add in the missing periods, commas, etc...
I'm sure you know how to use the spell-check on your computer, but if not, then pm me and i'll show ya. Happy Holidays

Yup that's the type of advice I need. I picked up that habit back when I was in a lot of chat rooms.

Have somebody edit your text. I wouldn't have any of this type content Quote: An older crowd wants a lower volume and laid back type show. Teens want more of a disco type, no lulls in the music & high bass and energy type shows. Don't tell people "What they want", instead ONLY tell them what you offer in summary. Explain ONLY that "everybody has preferences as to what they wish for, and you have the means to accomodate a vast array of preferences." It's too wordy as tyoed out, you sound like me.. typing while you think Most of this is superfluous and redundant: Quote: Cabaret Karaoke provides any combination of music for the format or party theme desired with a state of the art audio system .. We are not just karaoke ..We take karaoke requests for singers or Dj requests for those who want to enjoy dancing and listening. The KJ/DJ ratio is usually determined by audience response and participation and can be adjusted at any time to accommodate what the crowd wants. The crowd also determines the tempo or genre.. An older crowd wants a lower volume and laid back type show. Teens want more of a disco type, no lulls in the music & high bass and energy type shows. With our system we can switch the genre or format to suit your individual needs... Unlike a band we can provide an extensive library of music from all genres making sure all crowd participants are satisfied. You can say ALL that in one sentence.Quote: "Cabaret Karaoke offers experienced KJ's and DJ's with State-Of-The-Art Equipment for all your entertainment needs" (That's ALL you need to state in above paragraph) be concise, don't "chat" in an advertisement You get redundant again in the second paragraph, and repeat the content yet again in the third paragraph with Quote: With over 13000 karaoke tracks no dups and over 9000 DJ songs we can supply a format for every theme or genre.
You can say all you've stated in your text with one short paragraph, TOTAL !

don't feel bad, Im actually guilty of some of the same things. My main page is due for an update. ive only had the site since mid summer so im still learning the software I prefer to keep it simple on the main page and use other pages for detail.

Great website ! Boy you have done a lot of work on it. I love the song look up and quote generator. You offer a lot with this sight. I'm sure you could tweek a few things, but for the most part I think you've done a wondeful job.

Kappy, your points are very well understood and not taken lightly. You are absolutely correct in several methods of presentation and your examples of redundancy hit the nail on the head. . However I have had sites that were very precise and without any personality and non-personal. The welcome page should show a sense of hospitality, openness, honesty, and all other things associated with a standard initial sales approach.
My approach to this site is to present these things with photos and colorful features, and with an informal howdy and a hand-shake. As with all projects I get several thoughts and instill influence from many. I am raw around the edges and tend to shy away from very formal events and presentations although still comfortable in a coat and tie.
With this thread I am already obtaining some sage advice and when it is done the final result will exhibit many personalities. Babs has already helped immensely. All suggestions and criticism is welcome, and seriously considered with thanks.
I just got a better camera to improve the photos and during this sat gig and New Years Eve hope to take some professional photos of our singers and the events to apply here.

one thing that a lot of people like is to have photos of them on your webpage. the way you use them on the main page is great, however the most popular part of my site is the photo pages. now that you have a good camera use it a lot. after a couple shows create a photo page. even if you just create a photobucket page and link to it, it will draw traffic.

One more thing (be patient) The heading text is of a low resolution. It doesn't match the rest, even though the color is right. Keep the pull down menus in the same shade of orange, and change the party store to have it's own pull down menu. I first though it was an inactive link.
On your Song Search menu, add a jump to page, not just next 50 songs. If I sort by title, I would hate to goto the next 50 pages to find something in the middle.
Then again, it’s just my opinion.
What Steven Kaplan was saying earlier is correct"An older crowd wants a lower volume and laid back type show. Teens want more of a disco type, no lulls in the music & high bass and energy type shows. " Don't tell people "What they want".

Look at a newspaper very closely. They have headlines to grab your attention. Most people have a very short attention span. The longer you ramble the faster they are going to get bored and move on. Study newspaper ads and feature stories. Carefully. Short and sweet. Gets them. Long is boring. Look at TV commercials. Are they 20 minutes long? Nope. Short and sweet. 10-15-30 seconds long, 1 minute is the exception anymore. These Advertisers (corporations & regular business people) spend millions of dollars consulting ad experts. Short and sweet. Keep repeating it. Short and sweet.
Kappy's info is right on target. You could fall asleep reading the first sentence. It's toooooo long. If they make it all the way to the end without going "Postal" you'll be very lucky.
Keep their attention, don't make them want to leave.
