Assuming your anniversary day is the 17th, your Star might not show until what would be around shortly after midnight *pacific time* which might be 2 AM the 18th your time. Not that anybody is watching this stuff BUTTTT......

The prior year we had checkpoints all over the world watching the clock... Jian was up, pacific location had a few watch-guards, and needless to say I was up here with about 50 people for that first star just staring continuously at my monitor. Reason so many people were involved has little to do with being compulsive, nope, not by a longshot; but *WHAT IF* somebody blinked at *THAT* particular moment in time ![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif) ; Keith was up down in the Gulf area too.

<SLAP>
Don't be so fresh Sis
(that's how guys think, not proper ladies)
btw.. Anybody know how much acidofusness I need to get my intestinal flora friendly again ? That Breyers fruit on the bottom yogurt doesn't seem to have enough probiotic. I need to call Freda from Shaklee and order more Opti-Flor
Anyway, while I was watching DeGeneris yesterday I started thinking, with all this technology, why isn't television 3-D yet ? I'd just LOVE to see my soaps in 3-D

Sis, you might not recall, in the 60's and 70's they were talking about television being in the shape of perhaps a bell jar. The purpose of this type contour would be so 3-D holographic images would be viewable from the whole periphery (no additional glasses needed). Pretty interesting concept. Worlds Fair, and Expo had similar-type exhibits.

That one seems to have escaped my notice, a bell-shaped tv huh?
Speaking of weird television scenarios, and since you're knowledgeable about techy type stuff, what ever became of smellavision :headscratch: I always thought that'd be purdy kewl

Babs,
You are thinking of 2006 when Jian and I calculated the star must've arrived between 3:15AM & 3:45AM Eastern Standard Time (My time) the morning of January 4th (which would be within the hour after midnight or early AM following the anniversary day Pacific Time). We had both stepped away for a bit as I recall, and THAT'S when it happened. I think you'd just gotten back from KJ'ing and you were up for a little while too intending on waiting it out, yet we couldn't figure out why I hadn't gotten it by around 2 AM and you had to go to sleep.. Jerry was up in CA for part of it, Keith down in the Gulf for a few hours too, Jian and I were pensively watching the computer until around 3 AM my time, I think for some reason we both missed the EXACT hour period, we figured there was some glitch, or I might not have actually formally registered until the following day so by 3 AM I think we assumed it might not even come until KS day started with Darryl in the Data Center Jan 4th 2006.

Cathi,
The biggest problem I recall with smell-O-Vision EVEN in theatres was the fact that calibrating quantity needed from one type scent to the next, and clearing the air from a past scent just wasn't doable, they couldn't evenly regulate any of it, and it would be noisy, and people would be making annoying sniffing noises often not smelling something in a balcony area perhaps until minutes later, it wasn't possible to evenly diffuse this... Too many scents would likely linger in many environments and it'd just end up a conconction of odors getting combined without proper air cleaning to eliminate prior scents that might clash.. Additionally the electronics, and resevoir involved would be quite costly, and impractical assuming the experience were to be worthwhile. But getting rid of one odor to allow for a different one in theater settings wasn't easy to do affordably.. That was going to be emitted likely from under theatre seats but it couldn't be regulated and timed, too many glitches. It'd end up being a goofy experience..

Unfortunately, Smell-O-Vision would be be a bio-terrorist's dream come true these days!

Yanno I seriously thought about that when the talk was goin' round, just as a matter of practicality it wouldn't be possible. Do ya think the guy who thunk of it was on a major acid trip?

I think in the 90's warner bros actually considered it. vaguely I recall something like that... Perhaps most thoughts or inventions that came out've the 60's, or were inspired by that time-period were hallucinogenic inspired ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) . A few theatres tried it in fact for certain movies.

You've got me curious tho Sis, take phosphorescent colors or "black light" posters, and alot of mysticism in art... I wonder how much of that was originally inspired by a "trip", the a person believed could be brought to fruition thru science.. Peter Max Black Light posters from the 60's would've seemed like an acid created concept.. Wild colors on velvet backgrounds... WOW.. I've always liked mysticism. but even surrealism, where did the concept for visual illusion come from ? An artist sober or altered ? Like music... many expanded via mind-altering drugs...
I wonder if the Beatles and Stones and other 60's rock icons around the time of the british invasion never dabbled in drugs if "rock" was we know it would've existed ? Also classic horror. EA Poe was an alcoholic and addicted to Opiates... His work came from Nightmares...
Altered Sanity can do some amazing stuff...
A great example.
The night before last I dreamt I couldn't find my car ! Now THAT'S amazing eh ? :biggrinthumb:
