HEY ALL!!
GUESS WHAT?!?
ok... so.... anyone who knows me, knows I like to sing.... duh... hence the reason I'm a member of this website. However... everyone knows that I'm WICKED shy when it comes to singing in front of people. I've had a few opportunities, (Nahsville Star, Canadian Idol, Charity fundraisers, etc.) but I always decline.
WELL.... It's time to break that habit!
This Saturday night I'm going to be singing the Canadian National Anthem at a hockey game in a big arena. It's not NHL, but I'm freakin' TERRIFIED.... but excited!!!
I kinda wish I was singin' The Star-Spangled Banner, cuz it's far more fun to sing. Oh Canada is kinda boring, but oh well. Both teams are Canadian, so I have no choice.
Anywho... WISH ME LUCK!! I'm gonna need it!! Let's all hope my knees don't give out!

Crystal, that's awesome.
Best thing to keep in mind when you're doing something like that is that MOST people in the crowd are NOT going to be "singers".
So, you may feel a tad unconfident and/or nervous, but they'll all just be sitting there thinking "wow, she sounds awesome". THEY wont be picking apart wether or not you did "your best" cause chances are, none of them have heard you before, and like I said... most of them probably aren't singers. (or atleast die hard singers like we all here tend to be) LOL
And one more teeny tiny piece of advice- worked for me when I used to compete in fiddling competitions, and when I've sang or played fiddle at the fair... have ONE little shot of something about 15-20 minutes before you go on. Not a lot, just a shot or so... takes the edge off your nerves. (vodka works great) Sounds like I'm being silly, but it really does help.
You'll be awesome. Any chance you can get someone to video it so you can post it here?

I agree with the shot... just don't overdo it!
Also, try not to stare at anybody in general. Look at the lights, but avoid eyecontact!

Hey, word of advice.....It's going to be really cold, right?.....So whatever you do don't fart while on stage cause it will billow out in a big cloud of vapor and everyone will see it in the spotlights......OK?

I DID IT!!! :oh yeah:
And it wasn't nearly as scarey as I'd expected it to be! I got ONE picture of it, cuz Tyler showed up just as it was over, so he snapped one quick pic. He was supposed to video the whole thing..... grrr! oh well.

KUDOS!!! Those opportunities dont come along very often. I sang for the prime minister of Greece and dignitaries one time when the admiral was giving them a beach party.
You will remember it the rest of your life and compare it to other challenges simply because it was something that gave you goose bumps. First time singing to a large audience is awesome..

it IS cold there.... the arena is supposedly heated, but it's FARREEEZING in there. Ya gotta go in the washrooms to warm up! haha!

It was very cool... the adrenaline totally took over the nerves. I was more calm than I usually am at a karaoke bar for goodness sakes. It was kinda surreal to hear my full name announced over a loud-speaker. 
I'm addicted now  They asked me to do it again for today's game, but I declined, cuz I've had a busy weekend, I'm gonna chill out today. But I tell ya.... next time I get asked to do a charity benefit, I'm not gonna chicken out.... I've caught the bug!

I am so proud!!!!! Even thought the pic isn't a very good one you look beautiful and I'll bet you sang beatifully too, cause they wouldn't have asked you to do it again today.
You go girl.. Maybe someday you'll be making the big bucks doing what you love.... :hi5:

dont be nervous sing your heart out and always remember if any one says you cant sing never let it bother you just laugh at them hehe karaoke kid how did it go gosh just remembered saturdays past oh well must be my new website driving me up the wall not easy running a professional karaoke website but as a full time professional vocalist and karaoke presenter hosting shows its hard work but rewarding cheers
