Here we go again - The owner has to learn the hard way.

We are having 5 comics and karaoke on New Years Eve. What is he thinking?
People didn't like having 2 comics on a slower night of karaoke. I can't imagine they will take to 5 comics on a busy holiday night of karaoke. All I can hope for is that the comics are doing 5 minute sets.

you need to find another show... like around the block, and tell your customers that want karaoke to follow you, and if they want comedy, to stay there and watch the owner's funds just laughinly follow YOU!

shame......I was seriously considering comming.......

Babs why do you put up with the jerk? You are talented and beautiful and obviously have a loyal following...make it a priority in the new year to get another gig honey

Maybe he was already contracted for NYE and now is stuck ! - I agree that if I want to go out NYE for comedy ..I would go to a Comedy Club ?   If I want Karaoke I would go to your show !-_As long as you get your full nights pay ?

It's time to stand your ground with this guy.

New Years eve is not the time to be testing the waters to see how comedians do.
Does he have a good reason for doing this? Has business been down on New Years?

Comedians or not he's gonna have a big crowd, so why tick them off.

I don't think he means harm. He really is just trying to do something special for NYE. He doesn't realize what he is doing. I think I will talk to him about it though. Maybe we can come to a compromise. I'm thinking if he only has 3 comedians we would be okay. They don't take up a lot of time.

Sounds like a slap in the face......Yeah, you are doing a great job for me "but", let's add these other people to the same night.  Yuck...I don't like it!

No worries Mr. D. I'm not threatened at all by the comics.

I'm almost certain in fact after NYE we'll never see them again. All the people who were there for the comics first go were there for karaoke. They didn't bring a crowd with them. It was my crowd that was the audience and they didn't like them.

This is the point I'm going to bring up to the owner. The comics didn't bring in new people and the karaoke crowd didn't like them. Why take the chance of killing my crowd.

Babs, why don't you get some of your singers to "ask" the manager what he's got going on for NYE?  The when he mentions the comedians, they can turn up their nose and express their displeasure at the idea.  maybe he can get out of the dela with the unlaughable jokesters.

I think one brought her under age daughter... ....you need people quiet for comedians, so Bab's doesn't really get to talk to her fans during her break. You need some good dance music for the breaks on NYE....people will dance, and you can talk, dance, eat, or take a dump during several half hour breaks.....it's NY....singers will understand

Why would he wish to pay 5 comedians when he doesn't need to.. Do you think this is an advertising ploy to just pull in as much business as possible ?  IOW... In advertising 5 comedians he believes more will believe they are getting a wider array of entertainment and spend money at his bar rather than joe shmoes down the corner ?  What's the logic here from a spending standpoint ?

I think he's just trying do something special for NYE for everyone. I told him when he asked me if I'd do NYE that I would only if he wasn't having a band. Last year he had both me and a band. It killed the crowd. The people who come to see the band generally don't like karaoke and people who do karaoke don't want a band, so hardly anyone came. It was a bummer night. I really didn't care if he decided to go with the band instead of me, but he needed to pick one or the other.
