Would still like to know the manufacturer of that 2004 music disc. Just for the heck of it. Call me silly..  A good system WILL make anything sound better, but bass can't be extracted from what's not there. ADDING bass may well just muddy up that particular disc.

I disagree if it's done right.  Certain frequencies can be boosted, yet, other frequencies may need to be dropped to compensate - if you push up say 80 hz, you may need to drop the surrounding frequencies particularly around 250 hz & maybe 125 & give a slight boost &/or cut to the upper range frequencies.  It may not sound as good as if it was recorded properly to begin with, but you can make any disc sound decent.

No arguement here. I said it MAY muddy it up, depending on the skills and equipment applied.

As you stated, it may not sound as good as "a properly recorded disc".  That's why I'm curious to learn what 2004 disc he was speaking of...Just call it idle curiosity

I have the DA-2808VE and I love it. My friend has the Behringer but it broke in less than a month. He said that something started burning inside. I'll stick to products such as VocoPro. Actually I bought my DA-2808VE at  http://www.karaoke2go.com%20and%20I%20love%20their%20service.

I agree about the speakers. I found out the hard way. Bought some cheap off brand speakers on ebay and they sound bad. Those MTX can't compare to the top, name brand speakers in sound quality.

Get yourself some quality speakers like Yamaha, Peavey, Electro Voice, JBL etc. You will be amazed at the difference in sound quality. After that add or replace components as needed like the mixer, amp etc.

I got some Yamaha SM 15 passive speakers recently that sound amazing but they are unbelievably heavy. My buddy who has a stage sound and lighting company gladly took them off my hands. All the performers who have used them since for monitors love them. The sound is full and rich with good bass.

Now I have Electro Voice SX100 12" speakers. They are light, easy to transport and they sound amazing. I have heard a lot of Peaveys lately and they are one of the best deals out there.

Try craig's list for used speakers, I got a smokin deal on my EVs. You can get mixers, amps, speakers etc. for very good prices if you watch regularly and negotiate a bit.

ebay also has some good deals, but it can take a while because people bid up the good equipment. You can't go wrong with Peavey, Yamaha, EV or JBL. More money but you get a MUCH better speakers that will perform so much better and last a long time if not abused. Also, you can find some good deals on Behringer speakers on ebay.
