Forget the fact I have to overdose on  anti-reflux & guiawhatever for breathing.

My VA doc and I have been fighting high blood pressure for years...Due to TV exposure I have found out it is TV dinners and prepared foods high sodium content...

I am calling or emailing or calling food corps to reduce the sodium content.  Please do the same....

anybody that can't look at a label and see it's high in carbs, or high in sugar or high in sodium has no right to complain that those foods are what got them sick.

I'm a diabetic. I don't biyatch about the foods with high sugar. I can SEE that they have high sugar, and avoid them like the plague!

It's called being a smart shopper. If you take your condition or health seriously, then you will do what is right.

They make low sodium foods... why bother manus to make more? Where do we draw the line? Low fat, low sugar, low carbs, low calories... for prepared foods, you have to accept the fact that there is some things that you just can't have.

If the labels weren't there (and there was a TON of activity to make the food manus have those labels put in place), then I could see your side.

LOL Matt  There are thousands of seniors out here that grew up on real cream (it rose to top overnight) home made bread. As kids from 10 up we were the ones out sun morn killing and plucking a chicken for dinner. We did not need labels or advice from uncle sam what to and what not to eat. And there wasnt a need for labels at the local grocery store.

We are not in the habit of reading labels to see what the hell they are adding to a natural food. If I have to read labels then tell me what flipping chemicals are in there. When you are on narural foods when somebody starts cooking store bought meat it absolutely stinks. So does store bought bread.

There are certain cold medicines that tear me up because my blood pressure is so high to start with.. If I had seen a post like mine to start with it would have saved me a lot of frustration. To me it was a revelation and needs to be promulgated to those that are suffering

The drug corps now have 3-6 year olds on anti-depressants and other drugs IT is total greed and insanity.. When do we say NO!!!

I would be willing to bet there is not a single person here who could butcher a hog and get everything including the squeal.

If you are a tv dinner type of person take a look at these brands "Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine". Healthy Choice I believe is the best one for low sodium. Both are lower on fat content.

I found some info for you

HEy Karyoker- My Moms parents grew up on a farm( like you) and my Dads parents grew up in the city eating canned food loaded with salt. It is any wonder that Dads parents BOTH had diabetes and dies from heart problems? My Moms parents dies of cancer.

Now my Dad had diabetes- the best thing - and you';re not gonna want to hear this- is - fix your own food. I buy loads of chicken, shrimp and fish. I cut up tons of colored bell pepperm onions, squash and tomatos and grill them in a hugh batch to have on hand.

I marinate the chicken in a balsamic vinnagrette( the kind that does NOT seperate in the bottle) and grill large quantities of that as well.

I have tons of homeade dressings and salads that you can make and keep in the frige when you need a snack or even a meal. But the bottom line if you want to get away from chemicals is fix it yourself. Anything that is made to be sold has to be preserved and that;'s where you run into problems. Salt, oil and chemicals are the way they do that. If you want me to send you some of the recipes- shoot me a PM awith your email. I've been compiling a cookbook for years and can just shoot some your way!

Fish Oil, and lots of it. It's 21st century miracle cure. http://ebpm-prod1.ebpmsolutions.com:800 ... a%253AS%7E

I recommend the Res-Q 1250 tabs - probably 6 to 8 a day for you.

Ollie........ Whatcha doing eating TV dinners anyhow? The sugar and salt content aren't your only worry with stuff like that. I hate stuff out of cans & boxes too. By the time you add up all the additives & processed gunk they throw in them, you don't get much nutrients or vitamins or any of that good stuff out of them anyways. That isn't food, it's carbs flavored to taste like food.

You need to buy fresh produce- and get your chickens from a local farmer (or raise some of your own)... and don't EVER eat store bought or canned fish- catch your own. With a good bottom lure and a bit of patience, you can catch some big fat catfish right now;)

I TOTALLY agree with you that storebought foods are NOTHING compared to what their equivelent ones are, say in a butcher shop, bread store, etc... that's why I am a smart shopper and go to places like that. I buy fruits and veggies from neighborhoods (GOD I miss Oregon for that... they had tons of those kinda places just waiting for guys like you and me to go in there and get some sweeeeet deals)

The point is, WHEN we have to get those kind of prepackaged foods, you HAVE to slow down, and take a look at those labels.

I can tell you with all honesty, those labels can save your life, if not your heart or waistline! LOL!

Remember Susan Powers? She did that whole "Stop the Insanity" thing...

one of her key lines she used to use is the packaging is what sells the food. "Ever see a package of fat free ham? 'FAT FREE HAMMMM???' What's the universal symbol for fat? ((a pig))" and then you look at the package and see it's swimming in other things you shouldn't be having... including the fat! LOL! They just packaged it differently with other chemicals to reduce some things... like Susan said... "They're LYING to YOU!"
