DOES this thing last any longer than a standard converter? after having one arrive to a show DOA after working fine the previous show i now always keep two of them. in a year ive only burnt up one of these converters, and blown a horn (feedback oops on power up) so I would say ive done pretty well in not blowing stuff but still im told that converters are failure prone.

S-Video is nothing more than a manu gimmick It strips the color burst from the back porch of the horizontnal sync pulse and feeds it separate. A 25 cent 140 PF capacitor from the burst to the video restores it. A video amp has a freq response from DC to 4.5 MHZ.. It does not take a special amp for HD. There is nothing magic about a video DA it is an transistor (emitter follower) with 3 resistors and a coupling capacitor Parts about 2-3$
With an adequate 9 (even battery) volt supply this circuit will last forever. If a n electrotytic cap is used it will fail in time.
