Boy my computer is making me lazy. I don't think I'll have to go out shopping this year at all. I've got the majority of my shopping done already just sitting on my butt at the computer. Last night 60 minutes did a segment on how on line shopping with a credit card is safer than shopping in the stores.  :O I'm drawn in by paying no taxes and no shipping. Plus I can comparison shop to get the best price. Paying less and the convenience of not having to leave home has got me hooked.

Do you guys shop more on line or do you actually go to the stores?

I noticed the government is trying to figure out how to start taxing us on shopping on line and some sites are actually incorporating it. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/biztech/articles/031103/3tax.htm
I'm taking advantage of it while it lasts. Like you I don't like buying big ticket items on line unless there is a store in the area to return it too. I just bought a GPS sytem off of Ebay at a huge savings. It included a receipt from Walmart for it and a warranty. It was a power seller with 100% good feedback. I feel pretty confident about that purchase.

In slower paced small towns the clerk at the stores is the source of local news and gossip. Even at chain stores or fast food places. So the goods available locally are bought from a friend (or relative) In small towns the media hasnt convinced everybody that streets are very dangerous and actually kid kidnapping is actually lower than it ever has been. As a town increases in size the personal service is replaced by hurray hurray and pay and go.

However a lot of stuff is not available locally and as the price of gas goes up online is the logical choice although it is impersonal also. I do like to window shop online like at Wally's before going over to the store.

I'm in a business that specializes in online shopping. I get kickbacks for buying the same things I normally buy.

There's another angle they have, and that's with gift catalogues...  kinda like a gift card from a major retailer. You buy the program from $25 (and it goes up in 25 dollar incriments), and the catalogue that comes with it... there could be anywhere from 40-85 items that you could redeem it for!

Isis' husband Rick is also a member of this site... it's terrific!  I love 'em because I know I'm REALLY hard to shop for.

I sent one to my brother and one to my son in Oregon!

I have an online url that shows these things if anybody's interested. PM me!

Matt

I shop more online myself. I absolutely love ebay ! Alot of times I can buy the same items there cheaper than in the stores.Brand new and all ! I like the no tax thing too, but the bigger chains like Best Buy or places like that still charge taxes so ebay is great about that too.

you might wanna bump up to the e-95.......check for it on ebay....basically soles are an internet sold product anyway, and the warrenty is 2 years in home, doesn't really matter what dealer you buy it from

Place must have sold out. It was a distributor, with 100% ranking, and a ton of transactions on ebay. $1500 dillivered. Sorry....most places have a dilivered price of about 1700 bucks, though. Checkout treadmilldoctor.com for reviews....I mentioned I got the image 9.5(I mentioned above), to see how I like an elliptical. Can't say if it will last, but a 2year in home warranty was only 30 bucks. It's a rear flywheel, it weighs the same as the sole e-95, and it looks pretty good. I don't know how long the batteries will last, but there is also a generator inside that provides some of the electricity.....prob 2 hours or less to put together, and I will periodically check for loosening bolts....this can cause even the most expensive ones to come apart. About $400, with extended warranty and tax. Walmart loaded it into my van, and I opened the box in the van, and easily carried it piece by piece, into my basement for assembly. Use it for a few weeks, and take it back if not satisfied. E-95 carries 2 yr in home warrenty only, and expensive precor's I looked at were only one year on labor.....labor is the most expensive thing on a repair.......check out this site too(curtisy of Babs)

It's foolish at times not to shop online..

Black Friday I bought.   22 inch LCD Monitor 1000:1 Contrast $140 delivered
2 4gig SanDisk Cruzer USB flash drives ( 17 bucks a pop)
printer cartridges on sale no S&H or tax
CD-RW's with instant online rebate no S&H..
Patchkit for Rubberina (priceless)

No way I'd have been able to get those deals locally.
