I've been out of town for several weeks and just logged in to catch up on my listens. I pulled up several songs and the little player box pops up just as always- but it never actually loads the audio. I still have the option of leaving comments- but the audio seems to be on the fritz. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong?

Thanks,
Paula

You need the Quicktime plugin. Just follow the link that popup for the download.

Just updated quicktime and I still can't get it to play. The little player box pops up but instead of loading the controls(play stop pause, back etc) all I get is the outline of the player with a little square in the upper left corner - there is a little "x" in that. Nothing has been altered on the computer since i left and it was fine then...any other suggestions?

You guys using Firefox or IE7?

Sounds like Windows URL validation for SS is not getting passed to Shell32...the 11/14 Hotfix addressed some security issues for apps to get validated before allowing remote acess...

There is a workaround for this but you must hack the registry and I would not recommend it unless you know how to edit the registry.

There are other things you can do that might be causing the problem, but your browser type must be known before proceeding...

Don't know what could be the problem- as I said nothing was altered while I was gone- I know our operating system is vista, we also have webroot spy sweeper( but that doesn't block anything), I have no idea what "browser" we use- (How dumb can a girl married to a techie hubby be?) Hey now there's an idea- I'm sure he could fix it- but he thinks I spend too much time on SS anyway..LOL...maybe he put a SS hex on the computer. Guess I'm gonna have to confront the bull...er husband by the horns....er....balls- and make him fix it!

Vista....ugggg!!! I'm so sorry :)

j/k.... but us geeks in the CAD-CAM world have boycotted Microsoft until they come out with a new OS...

Vista = the ME of our time....

I will never use dat POS OS...

Vista is a feeble attempt from MS to keep the hackers at bay....they tried to get away from the Key generators.....

We get an 80% decrease in performance on our Engineering software and it was a slap in the face...

sorry for the rant but I am more than slightly miffed at MS...

problem solved...I noticed that everytime I tried to open up something with the real player- it caused my whole sound system to crash. I ended up removing it completely from the system and reinstalling...works like a charm now. Guess something got corrupted. Thanks for all the assistance and suggestions!
