Hi,
I just purchased a new laptop Acer Aspire 5570Z.  I can play my cdgs via ms media player but when I try to run Hoster and play a song I get no video and clicks for the sound.

Does anyone have anysuggestions or another program with similar features that might work?

I am begging for help.  I really wanted to start playing small venues but have not had success with current program or computer.

I am going to assume you are not refering to MTU's Hoster but to Sax & Dotty's Show Hoster since you state that you can play your files via Media Player.
I am running Just Karaoke on a new Acer Aspire Laptop, not sure of the model number though and have no issues with it. Sax is still working on getting a version that will run flawlessly on a Vista machine.   You can get JustKaraoke at www.tricerasoft.com for $24.95.  The biggest difference betweeen Hoster and JustKaraoke is that it allows for multiple songs to be entered for one singer and a rotation control as well and it also imports the songs into the database a bit different- first you give it a sample song to indicate what naming format is used for your songs, then you tell the program what folder to import. Aside from that it is fairly simple to use.

Screw MTU Hoster, are those guys still in business?

Go get Karafun for free and try it to test out your rig.

actually MTU is very much alive!

There are many products that are referred to as Hoster. Let's see if this is in fact MTU's product before we begin the bashing.

Most problems associated with software is hardware related anyway. It generally does not have anything to do with the software development itself. Any time I have ever had a problem with my Hosting Software the problem was on my end. I found their support to be timely and accurate when trying to solve my problem.

As for the original post. I would suggest going to the support forum of the software developer and ask for help. If it is MTU you will find plenty of help there from veteran users of the product.

Happen to agree with flipper on this one.  All products usint the hoster name save that of MTU's Hoster have either changed their name or stopped production.

I have run digital karaoke for 7 or 8 years and have tried them all. I found one that is being developed by a KJ and I have talked him several times on the phone. If you want personal service and somebody that listens to your wants then go Roxbox...  I have a host now that is computer illiterate he can run rox I do not need a complicated hoster I need something to run a show and run it effencientally  Roxbox

Whatever you do don't buy Sax and Dottys. I bought 4 copies of their software and was treated like a theif after upgrading.
They are the RUDEST most AROGANT pigs I have ever dealt with. Do a search for AutoKJ which is a free plugin for Winamp which Sax and Dottys stole from to build their software.
It works far better and less buggy than Sax and Dottys and you don't have to deal with the PIGS!
Cheers,

clubdjpro... doesn't have a rotation software that I know of, but  it's been a year or more since I bought the program...

But you know, there's nothing wrong with just WINAMP as the karaoke player... I just like clubdjpro as it plays my video files and does a great "fading" from one song to the next!
