Hey guys firstly id like to say HELLO EVERYONE

My first post and ts about karaoke software on my laptop?

i want a nice and basic program which doesnt run up to much memory on my laptop to use for practising singing.

I used to use winamp with a cd+g plugin, but it rili goes slow and freezes my pc.

So now i am looking at: Power CD+G Player Pro

But i wanted your thoughts.

All i need it to do is play karaoke tracks on my pc and be able to change the key when i need it to.

Sorry if there have been posts about this before, if anyone know of them please let me know where and il take a look.

Thanks in advance

Try www.vdj.net I use it for my shows and it plays mp3 music and zip karaoke files. he has a 30 day free trial period and it is easy to use. If you have problems right click on the short cut and go to properties there you can change it to run with windows 95, 98, XP, and it is Vista compatable. I had some glitches until I found the version that worked good with my computer so try them all. For ziping my karaoke cd's I use kj rip n zip don't know the web site for this and it only cost me $5.00 for it . For changing my music cd's I use roxie. Good Luck

I use winamp too and my pc is old, very old with just over 500mb ram. I have little problem with it . Try using the OLDER ver of winamp. But if you can afford it up your RAM.

exactly.

you don't mention what version of operating system you are using, how much memory or processing power, what else runs in the background... all of this is highly important.

I run an older version of winamp, and it does just fine. Tig and others I know run a 5.x version of winamp, and THEY don't have any issues....

Whatever you do don't buy Sax and Dottys. I bought 4 copies of their software and was treated like a theif after upgrading.
They are the RUDEST most AROGANT pigs I have ever dealt with. Do a search for AutoKJ which is a free plugin for Winamp which Sax and Dottys stole from to build their software.
It works far better and less buggy than Sax and Dottys and you don't have to deal with the PIGS!
Cheers,

HI! I read your reply for the laptop firsttime user and you said you use kjamp rip and zip  to add karaoke cd's to your computer's file of roxbox can't you import them to the external drive then also or do you still have to go www.vdj.net to read the grapics or so the grapics will show on screen when played in winamp?

depending on if you have the unzip plugin for winamp or you imported as two files you should be ble to play in winamp the files created by KJrip and zip.

Killerbee vdj.net is a download that you purchase after that you do not need winamp to read your files for it does it for you it reads mp3 and zip files. I have all of my karaoke and mp3 on an external drive and run them through my computer. But the computer has the vdj.net program on it only and nothing else because I use it only for shows. I hope this helps

I have used winamp and it's plugins on a laptop whose cpu was 333 MHZ and 256 MB Ram witout it freezing.  That said I have seen it freeze on a desktop with 128 MB ram that had a 750 MHZ CPU.  It could be that your laptop needs more memory and most programs out there is going to freeze up if you don't have enough ram.
