[Edit: Ok, I new that would get you in here. ![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif) . Ok, you may remember that the original title of this thread was 'Fish Oil As Effective As Prozac'. However as I recall there is also a lady that created a diet titled something like 'The Orgasm Diet' and she did say that Fish Oil was important, and I believe dark chocolate. Wait, I'll look it up..here: http://zaneblue.org/groupee . I'm always looking out for you ladies. Now back to the original topic..., but of course you can talk about orgasms too if it's your thing. End Edit]
I just learned of this the other day and was impressed. I know some of you or your family's have experience with anti-depression drugs so thought I'd pass on the good news. It of course is also really good for your cholesterol and triglycerides. Just make sure you get a brand that is purified of heavy metals and PCB's.
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/MedicineCutti ... 498&page=1
I've been taking Omega 3 (about 2 to 3 grams / day) for over a year for it's heart benefits, and I very seldom get depressed. From my experience I recommend you only take it with a meal so that you don't get 'fish tasting' burps, and you may also need to add some fiber to your diet if it interferes with your digestion. It takes a few weeks or more for your body to become accustomed to taking it so take it slow if you increase your dose. Lately I've been jumping to 4 grams / day which is more recommended by Dr Barry Sears of The Zone diet; however keep in mind that larger doses of fish oil can thin blood so you don't want to over do it. You also have to be careful and probably consult your Dr if you are currently taking blood thinning therapy such as aspirin, or cumiden, etc

![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif) Yeah when I was writing all that I kind of felt like a spammer. Too bad I'm not selling anything, maybe I should be. I just thought some of you would want to know. I know you and Kaplan, and others were in on that conversation about St Johns Wort - so I thought this was kind of along the same lines...

Best Aphrodisiac?
It's NOT fish oil, but kinda smells like it....It's Maiden Oil.
Maiden Oil is nature's answer to KY except it's natural and gets produced in copious volumes when properly triggered by the Male, but the Male must also be triggered too.
If Maiden Oil is then applied properly to the Male then he reverts to an animal, which causes the production of even more Maiden Oil.
To trigger the Male and get him interested he needs to see the Fem cooking and cleaning his cave/dwelling....That sight motivates the Male enuff to bother to stimulate the Fem into producing Maiden Oil.
Without that trigger the Male reverts to the one-night-stand mode where he operates without the benefit of Maiden Oil and the Fem suffers from lack of lubrication.

Taking fish oil is known for a lot of great effects. My brother has been taking it for yrs for his migranes. He swears by it. Why do you think those eskimos live so long? I read a good article about eskimos and how they have no heart disease etc... and have long life expectancies. Mainly due to the fish oil from all the fresh fish they eat.

I actually had my doctor tell me to go by Omega 3 and start taking it. My family has a history of heart problems. My younger brother had been in to see him a couple of weeks earlier and had found that he had high blood pressure. He told me that it would be good for me and my wife, who is just a little thing, to take one capsule a day from now on just to help open arteries and keep the blood circulating properly. He said he was taking them himself for that purpose. I figure if it is good enough for my doctor, then it is good enough for me. --Mike

I have never noticed an after-taste from taking the Omega 3. The doctor told my wife that it would be good for her too. We have both been taking them for about 2 months now.--Mike

I've been taking it for quite awhile. I don't eat much fish, so I take it to try to get some of the essentials, that I might be lacking, due to the lack of fish in my diet. I'm 53, but people mistake me for about 70...... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ...hate to think how old they'd take me for if I didn't take it........

Oh sorry, I messed up that initial link for 'The Orgasmic Diet' or whatever it's called by including the period too close to the URL - I just fixed it though. Here it is again for those interested: http://zaneblue.org/groupee .
And that's Fish Oil taken internally Keith, although perhaps your 'Maiden Oil' has many health benefits taken the same way.
Zaneblue's diet has something to do with increasing Dopamine in the brain, and maintaining constant Serotonin levels. She does that with the Fish Oil, Dark Chocolate, Magnesium, Zinc, B vitamins, and a fairly low / balanced carb diet (I believe like 'The Zone') along with a few other things from what I briefly gleaned from that site. It would be covered in detail in her book. As I recall she said for women it takes about a month or so on the diet to make a difference.
As for heart health, yep it's supposed to assist in lowering bad cholesterol, increase the good cholesterol, and decrease the triglycerides. It also acts to some degree as a bit of a blood thinner from what I've been able to determine, because they are always cautioning people to be careful with it if they are on blood thinning therapy.
So on top of all that we now learn that it helps in depression. That probably makes sense if it is involved in the serotonin / dopamine levels in the brain. Turns out the human body requires EPA / DHA from Fish oil but is unable to make it by itself. Because of this you have to eat it. Supposedly most Americans (US) are low in this essential product.
It's interesting I learned the other day that Free Range Beef has naturally occurring Omega 3 in it. I was really surprised to hear that. I believe pork, and chicken is the same way. However Grain Fed Beef does not. Seems like just one more reason for me to get a big freezer and buy up some organic meats. [Nope I'm not a vegetarian.]
I've read one or two of Dr. Barry Sears books and they are very interesting. Called 'The Zone' it's been out a while and talks about a balance and harmony your body takes on when eating a proper ratio of the right foods along with proper exercise. http://www.drsears.com/welcome.page. Dr Sears comes from a family with bad heart history and he thought early on he had a death sentence hanging over his head - so he tried to find a cure. One of his big proponents is Omega 3 which helps produce eicosanoids and reduces arachidonic acid (bad). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eicosanoid He mentions he found the cure in an injection but no pharmceutical company wanted to support him. Later he determined that fish oil could do a similar thing. Dr Sears recommends 4 to 5 grams daily. That is a lot. I'm just now getting to about 3 to 4 a day. Omega 3 was also approved in recent years by the American Heart Association.

On a side note but not totally off-topic, many people who have issues with depression have trouble absorbing folate from any diet. Some have to get prescription strength folate (l-methylfolate). B-12 is needed to break down folic acid into a useful substance after several steps. This doesn't eliminate the need for exercise and a proper diet.
The Zone diet highly recommended to aid in mental balance. Some people have to go as far as cutting out glutens (a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats) as well.
