It takes a LOT to blow me away in a performance- especially when you are only getting the audial part of it( not a visual) But there is a singer over in the showcase who just blew me out of the water with his sub of the song "I Who Have Nothing" His user  name is Benny G - and if you love music and want to hear something that is rare- check him out! I've never done anything like this and you KNOW he's good to prompt me to do so now. Trust me- it's worth the time!

Hope you all enjoy him as much as I did. I just had to share the love- cuz I certainly had a moment when I heard it!

Paula

LADY PAULA, I AM IN FULL AGREEMENT WITH YOU ON THIS DEAR HEART OF ***BENNY 'G'***HE STANDS OUT IN A WAY A PERFORMER SHOULD.

THANK YOU LADY PAULA FOR STARTING THIS THREAD...YOU ARE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL , INTELECTUAL LADY- SUPERBLY AMAZING YOURSELF...MY LOVE GOES OUT TO YOU AND BENNY AND MANY OTHER'S :)

well i went and listened to his singing and i'm not sure what all the fuss is about...

i don't really like his voice...

i mean just because he can hit the clouds with his range , big deal...
and he has great control....so what....
and i'm guessing he sings properly....woopeee..

my range is getting better i'm up to 1 octave now....been a long road but i'm getting there....
personally i think control's way overrated...
and as long as my throat holds out i'm fine, just wrap an ice pack around my neck and let me go....

ok , okkkk he does have a great voice....lolll

A good performance indeed, but I can't honestly say I was blown away by it, could be a matter of taste of course, but it's not really a wide ranging song. The best all around singer I have ever heard on here is (username) Janice...she never replied to comments or commented on anyone else, and then just kind of vanished...lol...but everything she put up was perfection, maybe give her a listen when ya have a chance.

You are right Nathan she was perfection...the reason she didnt respond was she wasnt subbing
it was her boyfriend...and possibly without her permission.
It was rare for her (or him) to comment or respond...and lets face it, there are so many who are courteous and kind that even when one or two are extraordinary tis easier to bypass the ones who dont respond in favour of the ones who enjoy a little social interaction. for me, Its the getting to know the like minded who are enthusiastic bout music and similarly enthusiastic bout people who are enthusiastic about music.
My trip to the states is all about meeting people I have met online with the same interests as me.
Fancy a trip to the smokey mountains to hang out with Cathi n me and a few others?

LoL...Well, social interaction aside, she was incredible, and her recordings were flawed just enough to let you know they were real, if that makes sense....In other words, she wasn't so amazing that it was unbelievable, but just amazing enough.....

The Smokeys are about a six hour drive for me, is there a get together happening down that way?.....

Vik- How the heck do you find out these things??You been using that crystal ball of your or something???LOL

But she did respond  to a few I saw one response to listener x

here tis
CRITIQUE: When songs like these are playing on the radio I usually switch the dial because they just aren't in my sphere of musical interest. But to hear this level of performance on a karaoke website strikes more powerful to the soul than hearing the original artist live and in person. Your pitch, control, vibrato & overall tone is possibly the best I have ever heard in the karaoke world. If you are not a signed recording artist, either you haven't tried, or the executives at the major record labels are asleep at the wheel. I am on my 3rd listen now and I cannot find one flaw. Even the mix is perfect. This performance eclipses even the best I have heard here regardless of genre. In reading any of my other critiques Janice, you will discover that I speak exactly what I think about a performance. I refuse to hold back. Overall this performance is a legitimate '10' from start to finish & reached ABSOLUTE PEFECTION. ........................X
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reply: Hi X! I understand what you're saying, I appreciate your critique. Bill did the mix, he says thanks! Thanks for the 10! Janice

I did some back listens and you are right- she was wonderful...but she was gone before I became active or I may have gone nutso over her too. I think what really blew me away is comparing what Benny did on this with his other- they were all GOOD but this- this was in a different league. And even if you don't like the song of the genre- he nailed it!  I know he's not the only one on here with a greaqt voice- but - for me at least- it was a special performance! I didn't think enough people were taking a listen- so I decided to draw some attention where i though it was deserved.

yeah I know- opinions are like a certain part of out anatomy we sit on- everyones got one! But hey...In MY Opinion...."MINE" is special

Thanks for posting about this Paula - it was already at the bottom of the newest submission page by the time I logged on, so I probably would have missed it otherwise.  I wasn't blown away by it, but it is REALLY well done and I so enjoyed listening to it.

Benny is special not only in his talent but he is a supremely nice guy. I think for the most part he is simply recording onto a cassette, he has been unsure of how to proceed with recording to computer, so if Joyce is helping him good on her and I look forward to more subs

Paula,

I agree, Benny's performance was absolutely stunning.  I think the emotion he put into it really made him shine!  Okay, I'm going back into hibernation now!!!

Dani ;-)
