This is sheer terror IMHO.  A rope bridge 500meters ?  I don't think this is at all accurate.. If that's the rope bridge in N Ireland it's around 80 feet.  Dunno, the caption states over 500m

That bridge is one of those things that looks freaky, but if I were there, I would HAVE to cross it:)

I don't much like heights, not when it's not totally secure, but that looks pretty secure. And there's something about conquering a fear that makes ya feel good.

I'd most likely walk the first half way, acting all brave, then as I got about 3/4 of the way, reality would kick in as I saw that I was past the point of no return, and I'd RUN the rest of the way across.  LMAO

I used to be afraid of bridges you drive on- not cause of me, but because of all the other stupid drivers... I'd literally drive across in a fit of road rage: "Get your car the hell AWAY from my car before you cause an accident and we FALL!!!"  The first time I drove the bridge at Astoria Oregon, I thought I was gonna faint before I got through the toll booth at the end. And it's not even that long- I think 4.1 miles.

Oh, and you see those mud tracks cutting across the grass area? Those are mine... I was in a panic and in a hurry to get out of the traffic once I crossed. LMAO

There's something about "What if the rope snaps and I fall 100 feet cracking my head on a jagged rock below", or  "What if I pass out, freak, lose control and have some type of seizure falling thru webbing on the bottom" that supercedes any interest I have in conquering this type fear.

I think the highest rope bridge is up around your area in Vancouver isn't it ?  Someplace in Washington, but you folks in the Northwest have some scary hight overpasses spanning gorges I'd not be happy about being on.

So anyway this one I'll never forget.  Over in the Newbie Welcome section during a discussion with Dani about the paranormal I can't forget my first experience with Telekenesis

I was learning about freaky stuff such as how the mind has an energy field,  and certain stuff can actually get "moved" by projecting the minds energy.. Well,  this made no sense UNTIL a few minutes after sort've freaking out that this stuff, as well as astral projection can happen (OK, I was 10 years old at the time), I'm sitting at the kitchen table, my mom takes the top of the coffee percolator off, puts it on the Formica counter, and the thing goes sliding across the full length of the counter... I sort've not only lost my bladder and other stuff, but I haven't been quite the same since seeing what I thought was my nervous mind moving kitchen untensils around

Back on topic, the hot lid perhaps had some moisture inside, expanded and skittered the lid off the counter..

Issue solved..  :hi5:

i was hoping our bridge was higher but it's only 876 feet compared to the royal gorge at 1053 feet....however, we have the highest vehicular (what does vehicular mean?) bridge in the america and the second-highest in the world...

Actually I have climbed a 500 foot TV tower have 4 wheeled to a silver mine in New Mexico on an old road like that pic. Only it was washed out in places..But bridges while they dont make me panic I dont trust them.

We crossed the bridge at Lexington Mo and it looked like it was falling apart.

That's exactly what happened, the cushion of steam caused a hydroplaning or very low coefficient of friction BUT I wasn't aware of that at the time, and FREAKED !

It's no longer the second highest in the world Milo (At least I don't think it is).  There's a channel bridge that's now higher.. It's the second highest in the country however, and the highest steel arch span in the world I believe (unless the bridge in S Africa is higher)..  There's another in S africa that's very high and holds base jumping like bridge day at the New River Gorge.. (unless that was banned due to a fatality)..  It is a high traffic area (volume of vehicles that go over that bridge is very high)...   Here's I believe the newest #2 bridge over the Channel. The Millau Viaduct bridge over a channel in france..
I think the deck is higher than NRG Milo, but not certain

Now while this bridge (Millau viaduct over channel part) stakes claim to "highest bridge in the world", that means top of the bridge towers are higher than other bridges,  The highest bridge deck in the world is still Royal Gorge by about 100+ feet since it's deck is 100 feet higher putting it over 1000 feet over the gorge, so royal gorge is the highest suspension bridge in the world in terms of deck clearance over highest water level if Ark river..  (But it's not a long bridge),  Millau Viaduct is a viaduct type structure with the second highest deck in the world, but New River is the highest steel arch bridge at 876 feet, but now I believe the third highest deck in terms of clearance over water. and likely has the highest volume of trafiic being over a main road. Millau Bridge has a passenger deck 15 feet higher at 890 feet.

The New River Gorge bridge isn't a big deal to cross. You will miss it if you don't know any better. The sides are kind of built up, just enough so that you can't see over them when driving across (I would assume unless you're in a Semi or something). Anyway, it's rather boring unless you're UNDER the bridge, looking up. Then it's kind of interesting. And I'm afraid of heights too. ;)
