hmmm wouldnt work here...it would totally confuse the errr vacuum cleaner as we have very well defined roles
he does the vacuuming, the window washing, the laundry, the gardening

Best plan for coping on the internet,  If in doubt assume it's a compliment, if it's obviously not consider the source, and realize it's the internet.  Safety in miles and anonymity for many.. While my first 5 years on the net really took advantage of that fact.. My first five years of chatting on the internet was pre-internet in the mid to late 1970's where my school was interfaced with Dartmouth Time Sharing DTSS... and the language was "Basic", monitors were monochromatic, and when we typed back and forth you saw the words appear one letter at a time..  I've been thru the whole transition of half duplex modems,  60 baud, 320 baud 1200, 2400, 9600, 14.4, 28.8, 56K and now... broadband..

Took years to learn how to communicate in this type venue..  Few are "naturals".. I was NEVER able to type, or even pass typing, let alone type without looking at my fingers pre 1990's..  I learned how because I was lazy and valued lying back half asleep more than having to lean forward and look at the keyboard while dozing off.

Point being,  It's the internet that gave me incentive to learn to type, it's the internet that I had to learn how to communicate on and evolve to, and it's the internet that a functionally hyperactive ADHD who can't sit still and read a book learned english comp on, and of course it's the internet that *$&(#  (*$*_@_&  *#$(   *#%)&@%&   (#%&@&%   (%#%, hence, no life.  Everything I do in these rooms is self taught,  I never sat thru my engris courses in High School.  I never even went most of the time (I was a HUGE one to cut classes), I learned more in a few years of being online than I did in twelve years of primary schooling.  The internet can be an amazing source of knowledge and learning for those of us that wish to use it that way in areas of our interest..

and of course for folks such as JD and Ollie, it's a sexlife too

(but not for guys like me that can "get it" whenever we want by sitting on the washing machine)

Yeah, they chose just the right people for those parts in the video. Today is the first time I've seen it... though I've been hearing the song alot on radio. (i don't have satellite at home, no CMT)  :(  I just look certain vids up on CMT.com when I want to:)

Actually I do listen to country, but I'll be sitting here trying to dig myself out've my "stinkin thinkin", and "Fly Fishing", or "If I die before I awake feed Jake, he's been a good dog" comes on.. and I get bummed so I change the station. Some of these songs are too melancholy to listen to.. As bad as some of the soap operas you ladied like to watch, and to be honest.. I need stuff that's lighter to keep myself out've funks... Too much drama in those country songs.. too profound.. I like light stuff with a message....Like

No Charmin,  You got the impression I don't like country music.  I DO like country music, and assuming I was exposed to certain traditional styles it'd likely be the type of ballad I like.. But living in the NY Metro area most of my life I have little source of exposure to anything but what's commercial.. We don't have traditional country style here (I don't think) but country is blues style, so I'd like it.

Speaking of which, I love that wrestless Heart song "I'll Still be Loving you".. Backing will be accepted  :worship:

First off,  He's country rock, and I've play a LOT of that Charmin.  That's not Traditional country or is it ?  There's a  huge difference.. Country Pop rock is a style I'm VERY familiar with and have played in bands as well... That's not traditional country that varies in accordance with location much of the time, and is sometimes very folk country sounding...

Folk-Country in various locations I haven't a clue about being up here in southern New England where I find fitty dollar bills on the ground walking past the bank

Bonnie Raitt's been doing that stuff for YEARS.  He's country rock.. Difference in traditional folk country tho.

National pop-radio country naturally I have some exposure too.  BUT, if it's played locally on a green in your area, it likely hasn't made it here yet.. West Coast, and East Coast styles still differ in quite a few ways even in comparable genre's..  It's pretty tricky.. I like the West Coast styles, but prior to a computer had NO exposure to many... CT is WAY WAY behind musically Charmin,  New England just isn't the best area of a musician to live... Boston is fine for some stuff, but besides that, we are way behind NYC

Yes, even I can admit that alot of country is pretty sappy. Many are sad songs that make you want to drown in your beer. It's the nature of the genre I guess. You think COUNTRY is bad, try some BLUEGRASS.  LMAO  While it will always be my favorite genre (mostly because of the style of melodies and the musicianship)... bluegrass songs can be very depressing lyrically. Their always about living down in the deep dark valley, or high on a lonesome hill, and somebody dying from coal miners lungs, and lonesome train whistles blowing... and all that jazz.

I like alot of the old country music, cause it's what I grew up on. (you'd most likely dislike Hank Sr, Loretta Lynn, George Jones... but they are some of my favorites)

You want to hear a really good country song with really bad lyrics? (good- as in- nice flowing song, it has a good, simple melody and most people would like it if they could overlook the lyrics)  Google up "Knoxville Girl". The guy kills his girl and throws her in the river, that's the whole pitch of the song... but it was a big hit. Makes you wonder how a song like that ever got recognized.  :shock:

Personally (other than bluegrass) rockabilly/honky tonk style is my favorite music. to hear, to listen to, and to sing. Recently, I've been toying with the idea of putting a band together- rather than joining someone else like I did before. I was recently asked by the entertainment guy at the local VW hall if I would sing there. May not be the highest paying- but it would be a place to get started and get comfie. And a local karaoke joint just purchased a bar in a town 10 miles up the road. They may have live bands there too... so, I could for sure get a gig with his new place. So... I'm not going to do the "bluegrass" thing, but more a mix of rockabilly/honky tonk style music. That can cover alot of stuff, you just have to put the instrumentation behind it that it needs. I mean, from Emmylou Harris to Skynyrd (not taht I'd sing Skynyrd, that's just an example), lots of songs can be played and considered those styles.

I'm going outside for some air,  for some reason I'm starting to get depressed just contemplating that this is out there, I've listened to my share, and unfortuneately MUCH of the time,  these ARE the prettiest ballads.  JT and SO many others have done it for years and years.. It's about the oldest form of music, blues gets it's name from it... but sometimes, I need to stay FAR FAR away from it, and enjoy the melodic content W/O listening to ANY lyrical content

It takes work for some of us to be happy.  In my case part of the work involves not watching the news, and NOT reading such lyrics, or listening to songs.. Life throws real stuff at us whether we want it or not.. I'm not going looking for others drama and tragedy...  JMHO...  If certain styles help some to emotionally purge themselves fine... I don't want to hear it but once in a blue moon...

Harry Chapin was the last I listened to that stuff willingly for any duration, and it DOES take it's toll on a person.  I get a kick out've the women around here that basically never go outdoors to get sunshine and air,  they sit glued in front of soaps, they sit glued in front of springer-type shows, they sit glued to the news, and ER, and court cases, If conversation doesn't involve dying friends and recent diagnosises of Cancer or heart disease they have little interest in chatting with others... They read their dramas, if it's tragic and horrific they seek it out (just seem to have that knack)...


and they wonder why they seem to have a depressive personality

My GOD...  Life's tough enough as it is... sometimes we must force ourselves NOT to watch, listen to, and do certain things as part of a necessary means of attempting to keep our sanity !

You don't drown sorrows in beer, pills and other stuff.. You drown it with sunshine, exercize, fresh air, and WANTING to make the effort to fake yourself into being happy !!!

Grrrrr....  I've done this most of my life... Some people don't realize happiness is a choice, and at times a seemingly impossible one.. But it's only a choice, there are other options (such as listening to these songs)..
