but any ideas about what I did differently on 'Smaller God' that made it sound so much better? Or am I just 'tripping' and Smaller God really isn't that much better and I should forget ever singing songs that require more power?

What you did 2 1/2 years ago will not be identical to what you can or can't do today. You really should retry these songs, and not settle for what was done that long ago as a new singer.. You might or might not be able to redo these songs even THAT way today.  I think you should pick ONE song, and resub it asking for critique currently, not the past

bawwwwwk..... bawwwk bawwwwk bawwwwwwwwk.....

b'sides, it's not like ppl are beating down the door to get critiqued over here. ;)

How come you're using a proxy? Doesn't that slow everything down horribly?

I'm just pacing back & forth, waiting for people to start flooding into the thread after having a taste of my thoughtful critiquing, just begging for more! :)

Well, ok... I guess not. heheheh

I used to work for a Kiwi a long time ago. He had the cutest accent. It was actually a blend of NZ & British, since he lived both places, but had spent most of his life in NZ. Lovely little island I've heard. ;) I very much want to visit Oz someday, so perhaps I'll hop over to your part of the world while I'm there. If I'm not too ancient to hop by then. =p

I am on proxy cos that is the only way I can access the forum. Phil knows bout it but doesnt know how to fix it...so I guess I am stuck with it..I get weird messages when I attempt to access with browser...

message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?

Weird... could it be that your IP is accidentally blocked from the server? I had that problem for a while, but I think I was getting a different message. What browser are you using? I would recommend trying Firefox if you're not already, and if that doesn't work, try using Opera.

If you still have to go through a proxy, try JapAnonymizer. That worked for me when I was having IP trouble. Everything still worked, but it was kind of slow. =p

ugh... have you tried from a different computer? Or do you just have the one? That would help to rule out whether it's something on your computer, or if it has to do with your ISP.

Well, it's definitely your ISP then :( That sucks... or your IP is being blocked in some bizarre way. Have you tried Jap Anonymizer? It's a free program and shouldn't interfere with the way any of your icons & stuff function.

Reply: hey Seby...thanks so much for taking a listen. I will agree to disagree with you on this...first off it wasnt me harmonising...that was Clay harmonising with himself...I feel his sing needed to stand alone, it was poignant and the simplicity of the mix was designed to highlight his talent. Sure I could have tarted it up more...having music play under my voice etc, but the story was based on fact and I didnt want to sully the memory of a hero with tricks ;-) hugggs

Wanted to say sorry.. I didn't realize that was Clay harmonizing with himself. I don't think I've had the pleasure of hearing him before, but his vocals were lovely. At any rate, I hardly think your singing would 'sully' the performance, rather add to it ;) but I do respect your own artistic interpretation. I do think it was a really beautiful piece. You're quite talented.

hell woman you have absolutely nothing to apologise for. your suggestions were solid and well thought out...but so were my reasons for doing it the way I did it.
Clay is exceptionally talented I agree we have done 4 duets together...lol the others I did sing in ;-)

I see Listener X has subbed a song...and under C...and ya know all was cool until MJK decided he had to sign in and start his crap again.
My personal opinion... good on X for subbing...the comment that was left by mjk under one of his many aliases was somewhat biased.
Basically X is in tune and in time and not nasal as the ***kwit suggests. Sure the sub will never set the world afire but it does prove that he knows how to hold a tune and therefore (based on the fact that this thread has suggested that we all have something to offer to the critique process) is ably qualified to give his opinions when something is subbed under C. Lets face it if all music teachers or critiquers were good singers, they wouldnt be teaching they would be in persuit of the dream.

In short good on you X for subbing (although you didnt need to justify yourself imho)
and I hope you are not deterred from commenting or subbing by one poor excuse for a man

I wanna play. Even if I'm only a "3", as long as no one tells me to shut up.

I just noticed this thread a little while ago and was very glad to see it. It took me some time to read the whole damn thing but not it's a thread I will participate in.

I'm no voice expert, took voice for a couple of years but that was a long time ago. I can help in some ways though.
