The only one who will give me a ride down to bar has a SUV that I need a step ladder to get in Its not easy with a walker. When we get there he has to help me out and down to the pavement. My desire to get into the bar far exceeds my legs and the walkers capability. After getting in the cocktail waitress looks at me like Im a parapalegic and cant believe I want a rum & coke.

I get settled with a fresh cocktail and decide this is the night Im going to sing the song I sang for 70 years Dayo...Fortunately I chose a table with a book but I open it up and the print is so small I cant read it. All of a sudden I have an asphmatic attack and cant breath for a few seconds then thats hurts my body where years of acid reflux had its revenge. A gulp of rum and coke and Im fine again.. Need another one NOW!! Hey Hon!!! Halfway thru the second cocktail Im 50 years old again and ready to sing. I do need a number for Dayo.

I scan the bar for somebody to help and they are too busy having a good time and Im starting to feel better so maybe Ill just sit here and drink awhile. Hey Hon!!! A pretty little thing sings a song that I havnt heard for awhile and I almost fall in love again. Maybe I can wow her with Dayo..Next rum and coke Im gonna sing. Hey Hon!!

I still aint got a number so I fight my way up to the Kj and she looks at me like you want me to dial 911? I grin and say I cant read the book can you put me in Dayo? Sure wats ur name? Harry Belefonte....OK....For some strange reason she wouldnt let me go back to my seat Ok ur next like I was special or something.

I hobbled over to the mic stand and struggled to get it out of the holder.. The bongos started and the adrenalin started surging thru my old veins. At the precise moment I cocked my head up opened my mouth wide and belted day.....

My teeth came flying out The uppers didnt make it off the stage but the lowers flew 3 tables over. A registered nurse quickly gathered up my teeth and helped me back to my table.. I didnt even put them back in I just sat there drinking rum and cokes and dreamed about the good old days.

I woke up at home with my teeth in a doggie bag and im sitting here wondering Should I give er up?

Never say die!

So Ollie,  when are you going to get up on that barn roof and finish shingling ?  Never allow physical infirmities to get in the way of interests.  Time to kick the walker aside, and leave the teeth in the glass if they get in the way..  Look at me.. I don't allow my mind, or fact I have nothing to say keep me from participating in here !

Did hurt my knee last night,  not sure how.. probably something I dreamt.. anyway have a knee brace on as I type..

too much liquor is going to mess you up really badly.. Brain can't take it. I've done damage from over 25 years ago of HEAVY HEAVY drinking.. better cut down while there's something left.

Not really,  you know what alcohol psychosis is like ?  I do.  Scary as Hell.  Count yourself a head and cut back !  Dying brain cells is nothing compared to horror and the shakes and seizures.. anyway, we're getting off topic here.

Bite your tongue mister... you should NEVER give up something that means so much to you as music & singing does. As long as you can hold a mic and get the words out, you're good to go:)

I, personally, plan to sing at my own funeral. (and play my fiddle there too)  :D

Didnt mean to My mouse for some reason is scrolling up and down just moving it without holding button.  Just installed wireless... click and it stops anybody know how to fix it?

Give it up? You are an inspiration.
I have a few customers who have a hard time getting around. When they sing people appreciate the extra effort it takes to get up there. We can't all be nimble 20 yr olds.  :D

Why is it odd that the KJ put you up next? I think it was a nice jesture. I hope if I break my leg or have an injury that makes it hard for me to get around the KJ would be kind enough to make it easier for me. You'd hold the door for a lady in need with a stroller or her hands full of shopping bags, wouldn't you? It is just common courtesy.

You think you are the only one to lose their teeth at karaoke? Nope - I've seen it happen at my club. One of the guys used gum to hold them back in just so he could sing. We all have a good laugh about it and you move on. It is just one of the funny things that happens at karaoke. It's part of life when things don't go right. You laugh at yourself and move on.

Heck if I quit everytime I did something odd on accident when singing I wouldn't sing much. Handicapped Blonde.  LMAO

Babs we were at the fort one night and a reg wheeled in this old gal in a wheel chair. I had just got a cd with old stuff like alexanders ragtime band old old stuff She wheeled up to the stage and wept. The Kj went down to her with a wireless and aked her if she wanted to sing. She sang Over The Rainbow with a voice that was totally pro and you could tell she had sang it 40 million times. There wasnt a dry eye in the place. She is gone now but every now and then I know she is there..

I think I only sang once at our show sat night but I was wired cuz I was up at 6 am unloding the stuff. When I do sing its totally inspired.. Its like fishing it dont make any difference if they are biting or not......esp if you got beer

I just don't wish for my friends to go thru the hell I went thru Ollie, that's all.. Amazing substance ethyl alcohol..  Amazingly dangerous to some of us.  I've got to be honest tho.. Haven't had that false courage I loved since I stopped years back tho.

Actually when I drink my confidence wavers because I know im not at my best After so many I dont even sing. This thread was supposed to be laff and cry. And maybe provoke some thoughts and emotions the younguns have felt yet.

I read my start post again this morn  and rolled on the floor. I think it was one of my better posts!!! Laff cry & sing

Doesn't matter if they do anything about it Ollie.  Mods and Administration know who I am..  In fact what you did, is the type of thing I myself would do, and in fact DID the same day.. Mistakes happen,  I screwed up and rather than copy and paste Keith, editing my post.. I copied and pasted him (and pressed his Report button meaning to press my edit button, BUT.. I think I know why)  Probably because everyday and every morning this week, I've been catching porn spam immediately and reporting the porn spam in here to mods (and naturally some copying and pasting must take place first after which I hit the report button )..  Don't worry about it... A few ban votes builds character. I assumed it had to be a mistake, but naturally I needed to just ask you.  Don't worry about it,  I'm not !   I'm the king of stupid screw-ups around here, and I can likely do the same thing to anyone at any given time.  If for every 5000 posts, I get 1 ban vote (and that's out've personal vendetta for something unrelated such as what might in Singers Showcase be sabbotage rank bombing for friends of friends etc), and one mistake happens do to unstable mouse possessed by occult ouiji-type spirits from the underworld) I'll likely survive here.  I'm not sure the "ban" feature alone can banish a person.. even if the whole room clicks a person.. Ultimately I believe administration and Phill, and the super mods and mods collectively decide (or individuals decide for that matter) if somebodies a problem in here.. Not so sure 25 floating mice accidents would banish me.. and even if it did.  What could it hurt ?

I'm already banned, and have been for about 6 months !!
