I collect EVERYTHING I feel like collecting despite being called stuff such as "packrat", and being asked, "How many of those things do you need?"
A person can never have too many dustmites :worship:

Anyway, this past weekend (in part because I knew these neighbors somewhat) I might've done something foolish.  They were selling limited release pristine condition (no scratches and perfect jacket condition) british 45 rpm records, the set..

50 cents each..

I had to tell the girl that she was making a nasty mistake and how valuable those actually were, yet telling her :I'll pay you what you are asking, but....:..  she reconsidered after being told about Ebay...

Anyway...I like to collect stuff... Even Hallmark ornaments (that unfortunately aren't worth that much)

OK,  this is going to sound weird coming from a straight guy, but I couldn't care less (well perhaps I could which is why I'm prefacing what I'm about to say like this)

I LOVE collecting miniatures.. Tiny teapots that are well constructed WOULD be exactly something I'd collect assuming I had affordable access to collectables. Same with very well constructed miniature china (assuming there is such a thing) such as gold-leafed or etched miniature saucers, or miniature series that are along the lines of commemmoratives.. etc..

IF ever you're willing to part with them let me know Jerry.  I pay top dollar since I'm trying to complete the full series

That's absolutely amazing, and I'm glad he said what he did meaning, his statement admitting, "It's misery, it's painstaking, I enjoy the finished product", because that's got to be HELL to do given the scale and how steady he must be to carve intricate contour.. OUCH..  He's using particles of dust plucked out've the air to do some of the detail and smaller fragments.

AMAZING !  WOW

Isn't it though!  I saw the story when it originally ran on ABC News and was totally floored.

And to think it all came from the fact when he was younger his teachers belittled him because of learning disabilities.  The world can learn a lot from people like Willard Wigan  :D

Amazing.  Does he use a device to gear down the scale of his movement ?  IOW.. does he keep his hand braced and stablized by a robotic arm that scales his movement down for each actual inch down to perhaps 1 mm  or something comparable ?  I don't see how freehand a person can be so intricate. Each pulse beat would ruin something freehand I'd think.. Not to mention autonomic movement

The original story I saw was much more in depth than the one you saw on youtube.  He uses meditation to slow his respiratory as well as his heart rate down; as you can imagine with doing such intricate work just his pulse can ruin a piece.

He uses no mechanical device other than a microscope.

Incredible.   I wonder statistically how many people have the ability to do what he's doing.  Perhaps 1 in well over a million ???  Reason being in a microscope you also deal with reverse imaging, (or I used to, forgot of things changed) and are now positive image..I need to check this out, research this guy..  THis is intriguing Seems like an anomalistic gift he has that almost nobody can natural have

Last thing close to that I did was about 3 months ago, and in the total darkness walking to the bathroom my toe found a small opening in a large heavy crate, and I went flying into the glass end table by my couch.  I did that without meditating, and succeded firt time.. Still have the art work around my rib-cage to prove it too !

What an amazing person.  Just goes to show,  while some blame their hardships on a tough childhood, others turn what was difficult and painful into something positive. You have to wonder if the way the cards fell in this case are a blessing in disquise

Not to brag,  but I've been known to put the ovenmitt on my left hand, and take the casserole out've the oven with my right hand burning my fingers !   I suppose it's like being ambidextrous !  A few times in school playing center field, I caught the baseball with my eye-socket too.

Hmmm, I might be able to top you here.

I make homemade bread,

I bake it at 500 degrees.

I have taken it out of the oven with no mitts at all.

I used to catch footballs with my nose.

But once the football was securely in your nose..  Were you able to score a touchdown without dropping it ?   Problem I had, is that even though the baseball was wedged in my eye-socket, the rest of the team would get very angry at me because I'd be looking around the ground and checking my baseball mitt unable to find it..  It took me awhile to figure out it was in my eye !

Remind me one of these days to tell you about the time I couldn't find my glasses !
You'll never guess where they were
