Title: All The Time
I'd like to try to sing it, but don't have it by anyone.
Could someone send it to me to test?
Thanks in advance

At this site we do not support copying, or trading karaoke tracks. We strongly support purchase of legally made karaoke music whenever possible.
This coming from the guy who doesn't charge bars to do a karaoke show. Get off your high horse, you're doing more damage to the industry than the pirates are.

I disagree.
If he wants to do a show for no cash or a bar bill, that hurts it only with that one bar or venue... and even then, folks like him should tell them that they're doing this to get experience, etc. etc...
But at least he buys the discs... no, he's not doing more to "hurt" the business, not in my opinion!

Nothing illegal about doing a show for free, and it's his right to do so....I just hate when he jumps in here, and starts trying to tell us all the "hows, whys, dos, and dont's" of business.....just because he's got a PHD in vegetables doesn't mean he knows everything about everything.....he does tend to ride a bit high on his pony.... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif)

but most of us DO feel quite passionately about it. So I can look past that Johnny.
Think of it this way. THE REASON this guy thinks he can do it for free is that's been his experience. The local kj he went to had little to no experience, or wasn't paid much, so didn't put out much effort... so that was his role model to draw on.
I tend to get pretty defensive when folks like that tell me how "professional" kjs do their job, and they describe a situation I wouldn't tell my enemies about!
You know I can remember a time when I first started hosting where I thought I knew it all, because I started a company that was going to set the bar sooooo far apart from the others... come to find out, I didn't know half of what I was talking about, so I began to listen, to observe, and slowly developed what I do to the art form it is now.

Quote: he does tend to ride a bit high on his pony I don't claim to know everything about karaoke. I just mention my experience and I am trying hard to learn from other's mistakes as well as point out some I have seen myself or know I have made in the past. Now it may be offensive to some of you my reasons for doing karaoke as a KJ for no fee. But it is a free country, I may not know everything about karaoke. I dont claim to. But I do try to do the best I can. Maybe some of my observations or conclusions about karaoke are total BS or just plain wrong. But I dont think they deserve hostility even if they are. The whole purpose of this board is to share our karaoke knowledge. I look at some of the aspects of karaoke in a different perspective than some others I admit, some of my observances may be different than yours. The only way I can learn to be a good KJ is to observe other Karaoke KJs, talk to other karaoke KJs, and actually learn from personal experience. I have been going to several dens of karaoke over the years and tried to observe what worked and did not. I am attempting to share some of my knowledge little as it may be, in return for some of the others on this board. As for me rideing high on my pony I am just repeating the forum rule. Is it really that wrong to state it to a new person on the forum? We are not talking about diferent interpretations of the law. In this case it is very clear. FORUM RULES: Quote: * DO NOT discuss illegal methods of obtaining programs, tracks, etc.

How do you expect me to react if people on this forum tell me that I am ruining karaoke by spending over $5000 of my hard earned dollars and spending hundreds of hours of my free time to become a KJ, just because I love to do it.
I didn't see much condemnation about the attitude of those who attacked me.
Karaoke is entertainment. If people on this board can't understand that entertainment is fun, then for them Karaoke is a dead meaningless job. As soon as they treat it only as a source of income, the singers will get the vibe and go elsewhere.
Not to say someone cant get paid for doing something they love or enjoy. Certainly many paid KJs and DJs are good at their job, just like many unpaid ones may be bad at it.
Basically a good show mainly depends on the KJ careing about how he/she puts on a show, and having the experience and resources to do a good job at it. Once the KJ stops careing the show will go downhill, and eventually fold. That can happen with paid and unpaid KJs. What keeps karaoke going is good shows. If I can put on a good show, I am good for the karaoke business regarless of if I am paid or not. If I put on a bad show I am ruining the business even if I am well paid. Next time another KJ would go to a bar that had a bad Karaoke host, they will say "we tried karaoke, it didn't work". If I can put on a good show, and attract a crowd, then other bars may reconsider the reasons why karaoke did not work for them in the past.
If I can do a very good job with my show then maybe they might try to hire a paid KJ in the future, if I move or quit.
In any case think out the economics of my bar. The previous KJ only attracted crowds of about 20 people a night on average. Say each of those people spent $10 (many in my town drink cheap beers, it is a college town). Total take for the night is $200. Say half of that goes to expenses (booze, licenses, rent, electricity etc), result is $100 a night for the bartender and bar owner. If I charged $100 a night the bartender would be working for free, and the bar owner might as well keep the doors closed on my night, as it would earn him nothing!!! Unless the crowds are much bigger or drink a lot more, they cant pay.
Personally I would not like a crowd of 20 that each have $30 of cheap booze in them. Even one person like that can ruin a show.
We just had the debate, and many singers prefer small crowds so they can sing several songs. A small crowd can't pay a KJ much. Do the math.
If i can regularly pack the bar with 50-60 or more drinkers, than, it is worth it to the bar to pay me. But I have to prove I can do that first. If I was going to demand $100-200 a show before I started, then my gig at the bar might have only lasted a few weeks if I did not draw big enough crowds. I want to do this for at least some time to get enough personal enjoyment to justify my expenses.
But a crowds of 50-60 brings the singers down to 1-2 songs a night, and some will leave less happy. My friends like to sing, many prefer doing 2-3 songs or more. That limits the crowd to 30 or so max.
If singers want to get ready for the "big time" and do a song in front of 100-200 people well, in a club with a pro karaoke system/ KJ, many will want to sing in front of a smaller group to get reactions and practice. It is disappointing to say the least to wait 3 hours to sing a song, only to realize that that song does not exactly suit your karaoke ability. Sure you can practice at home, but until you see an audience you never know. The reactions of your family and close friends at a home setting may not be really the truth. The big venues that pay the KJ well need the small venues to survive and create the singers. How many people are going to sing their first Karaoke song ever in front of 150 people? The small venues can't pay the KJ very much (or even anything) but the smaller venues are what introduce people to karaoke and get them hooked.

These things have all been stated many times over in this forum, where were you?.... ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) as far as karaoke bringing people in, I wouldn't count on it. It takes more than karaoke to bring people into an establishment. Karaoke is to entertain the people that do come, and possibly give them one of several reasons to return(IMO)............IMO....nothing wrong with doing free karaoke, you didn't invent it.... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ....lots of KJs will do it for charity, firends, family, and to get a foot in the door at places that don't offer it. Many KJs started out just like you, someone gave them a few bucks.......and they liked it, and soon commanded it.....you have my blessings, Doc....... ![High 5 :hi5:](./images/smilies/emot-highfive.gif)

Quote: These things have all been stated many times over in this forum, where were you?.... Sure these things have been stated, some of them many times. I have looked in the archives. On this board, and many other boards most issues are regularly revisitedd. I am just responding to some comments that I feel were personal attacks. In response I did go back and revisit some old issues. Some were worth revisiting to justify my point. Im not the type to let personal attacks just pass. I don't get into physical fights but I won't walk away from a verbal confrontation when I feel my point of view or actions are justified. Don't some of these comments look like personal attacks on me to you? Quote: this coming from the guy who doesn't charge bars to do a karaoke show. Get off your high horse, you're doing more damage to the industry than the pirates are. Quote: OK, this is just gross. Shame on you for telling these bar owners that being a KJ has literally no value. I hope a drunk 300 lb man or woman crashes into your equipment and makes your $5500 investment go right down the toilet, you deserve it. Quote: And yes, you can be criticized for being in the rotation. It's your own f***ing fault that you're not getting paid, it doesn't exempt you from doing what's expected of a decent KJ. Quote: So to you it's a hobby and you have a day job. What is your day job? Maybe some of us will come down and tell your employer we'll do your job for free or for drinks. Professional karaoke IS A BUSINESS. If you're not going to run it as a business, stay at home and have home parties for your friends. Quote: that you have an attitude....

I can see your point, but like I always say, people like to draw the line where they feel comfortable with it, and hey, I'm no different. I'll argue a point that I don't even believe in, just for fun.... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ....some people feel it's ok to break the law just a little or moderately.....pointing the finger at someone going all the way.... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ...now come on Doc, if everyone on here agreed with you, that'd be no fun.... ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) we don't know you, so how can you take anything personal? I'm sorry if I offended you...sometimes I feel offended just because they don't see things my way.....that's not even personal..... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ...count to 10......maybe even 20....change the subject, maybe this one is too touchy.....I for one, enjoy your posts, but I was hoping you were a MD...........I got this pain in my........ ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
