I had a kj going nutso with a tambourine on one of my songs I was singing. I kept looking over at her and shaking my head, and mouthing "KNOCK IT OFF!!"... she just smiled and kept up with it.

I turned off the mic and laid it down at her table... from the shocked look on her face when I sat down and finished my beer and glared at her, I THINK she finally got the message.

The owner of the bar was pi$$ed off... he walked over to me and asked me to stay and that he's warned her of the complaints of this. She got on the mic at that time and tried to explain that she's trying to make it fun for all... I just paid my tab and left.

She got fired shortly after that. The owner was so t!cked off he dropped karaoke totally. Course, he wouldn't PAY for decent karaoke, and complained that "oh I TRIED that karaoke nonsense... doesn't work here." I replied "when you're ready for GOOD karaoke, let me know!"

He never did, and the venue eventually closed down. They had crappy food there, anyway! LOL!

I like oriental trading Company the best.

Here are guitars http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?namespace=search&origin=searchMain.jsp&event=button.search&Ntt=guitars&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&N=0&x=11&y=15

Saxophones - http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?namespace=search&origin=searchMain.jsp&event=button.search&Ntt=saxophones&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&N=0&x=20&y=11

For maracas and tambourines I use Musicians Friend. You can buy sturdy ones very cheap.

Maracas -http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation?q=maracas

Tambourine http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pulse-Pro-Tambourine?sku=440436

The exctasy of low price is overpowered by the disappointment of poor quality.

That KJ must have been deaf. I don't think I've ever used my props standing next to a singer. It is obviously to loud. The only time a tambourine or maracas works for me is when I'm trying to get the crowd to clap along. I'll stand in front of the stage and sort of clap them to the beat until people get the idea then stop and use my hands. I'm surprised that tambourine didn't end up wrapped around her neck.  LMAO
