I found this forum several months ago and have gotten some really good info from it. I finally decided to join for a couple of reasons. First off it seems to be a well run forum and secondly the people seem to be very helpful, and a bit eccentric, I should fit in!

I have been singing since they bought me one of those little record player boxes in 1967 when I was 5 years old, you know the one with the steel needle that ruined your record after about three plays. I started singing karaoke about 7 years ago, I will say that I am a OK singer, my strength lies in that I know what songs I can do half decent and in the amount of songs I can do. ( comes from being old enough to remember the music from the 60's, 70's, 80's. ) I am a realist, and I am my own worst critic. I do not judge other people by their singing ability, but by their attitude, we all know it takes guts to get up there and perform. The one thing I am most proud of is overcoming my severe stage fright, although I do still get a little nervous at places I have never sung before.

My younger brother helped run a now defunct karaoke show and finally convinced me to sing, he now has his own DJ and KJ show here in south Texas ( not a promo ) and I am now a full fledged addict. ( to karaoke )

I read over the rules and I think I am OK in asking that if anyone has the   AMS1504 CDG that they would like to sell I would pay a fair price for it. My brothers show is more rock oriented and this discontinued CDG has several songs that I would love to perform, Stone temple's " Vasoline " Chili Pepper's " Knock me down " Alice in chains " Man in the box " OK that last song I might have to get my brother to help me! I am not asking for a copy, I know that is illegal, but I thought maybe someone who is no longer in the business or who's venue normally wouldn't require these songs might want to help a karaoke addict down on his luck. ( on finding this CDG )

I want to say thanks to all who reply, and I really have gotten some great info from here, especially on how different shows are run. Thanks again, Rudy

Thanks knightshow, yeah those songs are not available on any other labels, I have never heard that CDG's songs at someone else's show so not quite sure of the quality, but what the heck even if they're half decent it would be worth it.

I have it, unfortunately not willing to part with it.  However the Man In The Box version blows on it, look into sbikaraoke.com for Alice In Chains, great renditions!  Vaseline is decent, Dope show is ok, Beatiful People leaves a little lacking, Plush, Cumbersome, Somebody To Shove - blek!

Hi Rudy. You sound a lot like me. I was a lurker for a while before becoming involved. Welcome!!

I couldn't agree with you more. I too am my own worst critic and refuse to judge others' singing abilities. I do have an opinion or two about their attitude though. Don't care for those folks who have superiority complexes, no matter how good you [think you] sing.

And as for the disk you're looking for, I did a Google search of "AMS1504 CDG" and actually had a few hits for online karaoke stores selling that disk. Nothing on eBay though. Hope you find it. Good luck!

Thanks Lonman, that helps me alot knowing that the quality  is so so on some of those songs, I tried the site you suggested and the versions of Alice in chains songs are pretty good. I will probably place an order with them.

Tinkermom thank you also, I will check some more sites for that disc, I had ordered it from one of the online sites and was told it was discontinued but that doesn't mean someone else doesn't have it. Glad to see I am not alone in how I view karaoke.
                                                                                        Thanks again, Rudy

It's been pulled out of production for about 4 or 5 years now, if they are listed on retailers sites, it's because they just haven't pulled it off - very long shot to find it new in a store.  About as hard as finding a SC8148.
