yep pretty much now...am hanging out to get over there next year ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) just as well I bought US dollars when I did, the NZ $ has now dropped to below 70c US.
When you guys do your Rennaisance fairs do you go to Tennessee? My friend Troy says that there is one on near him around the time I am there next year. He lives close to Nashville.
Just wondered if I should bring my Medieval dress ![Wink ;-)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

I'm maintaining my "girlish" figure too.
The girls are having a blast running and rehabilitating the show. They have a lot of work to do but they seem to be up to the challenge.

Trust me Chuck is no girl. Heh, heh. When he says playing, he means it. Somehow Sharon is adorable even in those big nose-and-moustache glasses. It is disgusting.
Thanks to everyone for the support! I had the show by myself last night, and it was AWFUL--no singers! The last singer gave out at 11 and the show runs until 2. I sang about once every half-hour, but there were no new people, so there was nobody to inspire to sing. Mostly I just traced cables and starting disconnecting old, unused, broken equipment that has been littering the booth for years. I also got us out of trash duty (except for putting new bags in the cans) and talked the owner into buying a monitor stand that is not broken.
I still have to track down the second SM58 we bought from Full House for them; at this point I assume it was stolen. I am going to bring a machete to the shows and chop off the arms of anyone caught messin' wit' our stuff, I think.
Murlin, welcome! We do Scarby regularly and will be at TRF in mid-November. Check out Middlefaire in October. I have heard good things but I cannot confirm. Vicki, I haven't done any out-of-state faires, either. I know Kansas City is good and I have heard good things about Hammond, Louisiana. In general, I would say bring your garb if you can afford the extra luggage. Maybe we can take a road trip. Tennessee is about a 16 -hour drive from here, and the first 5 you are still in Texas!

Hang in there sweetie - When I started out I had nights like that. It takes a little time to build a crowd - they'll come.

Thanks, Babs. We are in heavy damage control mode--the usual weekday guy starts the show somewhere between half and one-and-a-half hours late every night so I think people just flat-out don't bother to show up because it is so irritating. Plus, the weather is great and people are doing summer stuff while they can.
We are trying to raise the standards generally for the entertainment at the club. Sharon and I have both been in and out of the place since before the current owner even bought it, so we have some leeway any other new KJ would not have. We are taking advantage; we remember when the shows used to be fun and fast-paced. If the sign says the show starts at 8, it starts at 8. The workshift starts however much BEFORE 8 you need it to.
Granted, the gig pays VERY poorly, but we cannot ask for more money until we make the show WORTH more money. You get what you pay for.

Well girls this sounds very exciting. I may have to do a road trip!! Let me know where this venue is and when you will be there and I'll see what the calendar states. Perhaps XX or Jeffieoke could be interested too.

The gig is going better than planned. I was lucky to get a seat at 11:00. It was fun and they made everyone feel welcome.

Thanks Chuck!!! I was so suprized to you.. I am glad you had some fun and sang a couple of songs with us....You rock!!
I did the show on Wednesday night and we had a significantly larger crowd. And they were a really fun bunch too!!! I ran 40 something songs thru that night. I had a lot of fun and so did the people that were there.. We had to kick them out at 2am cause they didn't want to leave....
Last night (Friday) we had a great crowd. They were a laid back bunch but quietly fun.. If that makes sense... We ran around 63 songs thru.. We will need to improve on that as the show goes but I think it was a great night getting the girls lit and the guys leid.

I had fun playing with your props too.
You noticed that I have had a lot of opportunities to sing lately but haven't until last night. The energy of the show was very encouraging. It's going to cool to see how the kiosk works when you guys get that going.

Oh yes, I had nights like that. Mostly on the first night of the gig but I have found the trick to getting things rolling again. If you advertise karaoke from 9:00-2:00 and you have no requests in at any time between 9 and 2...sing. Don't do anything up tempo. Don't stop. Do let the crowd know in between songs that the only way to shut you up is if you get a request slip. And then sing on. By the third song the slips will start rolling in.
