Hi all,

I'm sorry if these questions have been asked a million times.  I'm trying to set up a system for home use.  Right now I only have a few CDGs for my RJtech4200 (I know it's not great, but didn't know much when I got it as a gift).

I'm trying to decide between Sweet Georgia Brown (for the # of songs) and Supercore.  Basically, I want to have a lot of the karaoke hits but also some of the newer songs.  I've listened to a few of the SGB songs and most seem very bad.  I've listened to a few of the Supercore newer songs and they seem okay (at least the pop ones), though some are bad.

Is it possible to eventually get a whole set of the Supercore CDGs?  I can find the KJTools and some of the newer Supercores, but when did Supercore replace KJTools?  Basically, what would I need to buy to have the whole set?  The reason I want to try for a whole set of one brand is to try to eliminate repeats - does Supercore repeat a lot year after year?

Then my question about speakers is - I don't know much about speaker systems, and I'm just reading that home systems are a no-go.  This is just as I was about to buy what seemed like a good deal for a home speaker system with a USB port for my iPod (unrelated to karaoke, but also something I would like)...
I've also seen home DVD/karaoke speaker systems online.
Without spending a ton of $, what's the best way to have speakers for karaoke, TV, DVD (which is also my rjtech4200), and if possible with a way to easily hook up my iPod?

I know, that's asking a lot.  But I don't know much about what's available, so I'm listing it all.

Thanks for any help in advance!

You can get Supercore sets, and they are overall very good. If you wait for the next year to come out, the previous year is usually half-price at karaoke.com.

My thought on home system speakers. Unless it's high end audiophile stuff, speakers are purchased more for their looks instead of sound quality or durability. Example, a 500 watt home speaker never sounds as good as the equivalent pro speaker. It's kinda like the "console TV" our parents bought for the living room...more furniture than video/sound equipment. On my main stereo stuff I used pro speakers and amps that I rotate out of pro use. I just don't think that home stuff can stand up to singing use.

I just recently bought a mixer/speakers from musiciansfriend.com. It was the Power Pod 740 plus package. $399.00 total free shipping. Had to use different mic and bought upgraded cables, but system is great for the price.

A few others here have used and liked. It sounds great, just add your player. They have a few other models, one is cheaper, just a little less power. We have had a number of Karaoke parties.
