Oops!!! Somehow my thread has died and been archived. Hahaha! It will never die. Here it is again!!

Check the archives for the recipe to my Mexican Martinis:  Ah Caramba!!!
http://www.karaoke-forum.com/viewtopic. ... highlight=

Thats' right kids! The mexican martinis are still alive. I just subbed my version of Margaritaville. http://www.singersshowcase.com/song.php ... act2=57068

Please check out my version and then submit your own.

So far only Petes Rendition has done this and well...Pete is just cool as hell. You can read my dedication on the song, but let me just say life is good. I'm chilling out here with buffalo wings, and Mexican Martinis watching World Extreme Cagefighting. Man you have to be envious of these people's physical skills! Get your chill now! Check out my songs on the link below, and you can check my other stuff too. Yeah Stephen we'll let you criticize my singing too - what the heck!! I'm no Danielle, or KevinXX, but I try a little bit sometimes... HA!!!

PS: Somebody unlock my old threadd plz.

I was recently talking to a friend about the dry ice margarita. This is her recipe. This is a drink that has to be made in batches. It's a great recipe for a party.

Dry Ice Margaritas~

Use about 3 of the large bottles (the ones with the handles) of margarita mix (like Cuervo's). Dump them into a large container, like one of those Igloo's with a drain spout on it. Use 1 and 1/2 to 2 of the same size bottles of tequila. Now, add a small bottle of orange liqueur. Patron makes a really good one for not that much.

Then (this is the fun part), slowly add the dry ice...little by little. Use a hammer to break it into smaller pieces.

DO NOT TOUCH THE DRY ICE WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!

It will bubble and fuss and spit at you, DO NOT BE ALARMED. If it gets on you, just lick it off. Now, you have to keep stirring it. If you don't keep stirring it, it will turn into one big frozen iceberg.

Eventually, it will become slushy. The thing is, these suckers are strong but don't taste strong. There's no ice to melt and water them down. The dry ice makes them slightly carbonated, which is the bomb.  :yum:

Dry ice is great to have for Halloween parties. Throw some in the pool or jacuzzi and you will have a nice fog for atmosphere.

Hey that sounds like a pretty nice Marg recipe there Sheree! Sounds like fun to make. Is there any concern for a piece of that dry ice coming out of the spout when you pour and freezing up the inside of your mouth?   I hope not  LMAO Otherwise this sounds pretty cool (literally  LOL ).

Only thing I'd add here for folks is IMO it's definitely worth getting the higher quality 100% Blue Aguave Tequilas. This in other words is real Tequila from Mexico. There are lots of good brands. Right now I've been using Z. I've tried lots and forget many. Others I can remember off the top of my head are Antigua Cruz, Caba Wabo, 1800, Patron.

For orange liquor I really like Cointreau, but my brother likes Matilde and it is a bit less. There's always Grand Marnier too.

Hey Sheree, you might improve the flavor of your Margs by adding some fresh squeezed lime into the batch. I've found I can never over do that in a Margarita.

This is why I suggest a spout and using a big block. Another way to serve it is in a smoking punchbowl with a ladle. Dry ice is denser than water, and usually sinks to the bottom of a punch bowl. As the server, make sure there is no dry ice in the glass.

When using dry ice, do not add regular ice, you might keep regular ice nearby and after serving the drink guests can then put in the ice cubes. As a rule, dry ice comes with instructions.

I've never tried Blue Aguave Tequilas. Is Cabo Wabo Sammy Hagar's Tequila? I like the Cointreau also. And Grand Marnier for Cadillac Margaritas, yum!  :yum: They are both quite pricey though.

Yep, 100% blue aqave (true tequila) makes a big difference as opposed to something like basic, standard Cuervo, or Sauza. It can be a bit like collecting / sampling fine wines. They all have their own distinct flavors and qualities although it can be a bit tough telling unless you have two side by side and try the difference. There is also blanco, anejo, and reposado type tequilas which is also a difference in the way the Tequila tastes or whether it is a good choice for drinking as shots or in a margarita or mexican martini. A lot comes down to personal taste though, and like fine wine or coffee I recommend you explore and enjoy the journey.

Oh, here you go Sheree...info on true Tequila from a favorite place of mine:
http://www.marias-santafe.com/margar.html

Yes, Cabo Wabo is by Sammy Hagar. I had heard about it years ago on some tv program about the rocker and his life in Cabo Wabo. After hearing about it I really wanted to check it out. It's pretty good and is about med / high priced compared to other tequilas. Lots of times you kind find a good one on sale at the liquor store. Ask the salesman, and he can also let you know which are 100% blue agave. You can also tell by reading the label. I believe all true Tequilas are imported from Mexico.

I will say these Mexican Martinis are so (too) addictive. With 4 oz of liquor per shaker glass, and very easy to drink, you can down a lot quickly and the temptation is there to make them every chance you get or whenever somebody drops by. Typically I don't drink that much anymore. I used to quite a bit in college, but now usually only 1 beer a month or two. I've upped that quite a bit since my interest in these martinis so I may have to watch that and scale back some. They sure are good though.
