Even though it was a weird/slow weekend for a Labor Day and I DJoke'd Fri/Sat and just DJ'd on Sun, I received my best compliment to date.  There was an older gentleman, up for the weekend with his son, come to find out he was 79.  He was there each night.  Anyway after talking to him in crossing a few times and getting the general, 'you are doing a good job', he stopped me to chat when it was rather quiet on Sun.  He started off with, "you are a very good dj and I'm impressed with how your music sounds.  You sound very good announcing on the mic, you're playing good music and the Karaoke sounds good too.  I'm not saying I like all the music you are playing....but it sounds good!  He also went on to say how he appreciated my volume level, that it wasn't too ear piercing for the amount of people in there or the type of crowd."  I sat and talked to him for about 10 mins while it was slow.  I was completely taken aback and humbled.  It felt very good coming from what seemed to be a very seasoned musical person.  Thought I'd share...MrD

It is nice when you know you've gotten that genuine compliment and not just someone trying to play teachers pet to sing more etc... Woo Hoo It sounds like you're doing a fantastic job!

It grinds on my nerves sometimes when I know someone is trying to stroke my ego with a compliment just to try to get special treatment. Number one no one gets special treatment - I treat everyone the same. You guys know the type of people  I'm talking about. Aaarg !

Yep, I sure do.  "I wanna sing again, right now"  I usually get a few girls like that, but it don't work.  If you give in, generally they're gone to the next place right after...so I say NO right up front!  Back to the thread, it was nice for a change to get that..........than turn it down, play something else, play country, play rap, play rocknroll.  No matter what it is, there is always someone who wants to hear something totally on the other side of the music genre.  MrD
