Wow, what a night! First, the bar next door had a live band called Bubba Quick who plays there fairly regularly. The keyboard player for that band is a friend of mine and also plays for Rick Trevino. Damned if he and a few of my regular folks didn't talk Rick into popping over to sing karaoke! Rick was very gracious and sang two of his own songs, "She Can't Say I Didn't Cry" and "Just Enough Rope" to a packed house who had no idea he was coming! I intorduced him just as I would anyone else..."Now up, a brand new singer to the Players stage. Please bang your hands together for Rick!" The place EXPLODED when he started singing! He was fantastic and a great guy! He even signed a few autographs! Unfortunately, the missus wasn't there and I couldn't get hold of her to bring her professional camera. My phone had to do until one of the bar owners found a camera to take some pics.

As soon as I get my hands on those pics, i'll post them too!

One of my fantasies is have Martina McBride walk in Get up and sing indy day (for a male I can nailit) then in the middle stop and say lets have the gal sing it for real!!!

Here we have the greeley stampede with all the greats On that weekend the bars are dead. Same with Cheyenne frontier days. I am from the old school when hank williams etc would sit at the bar and drink between sets and talk.

Nowadays they are inaccessible my sh** dont stink so for one to grace your show and sing would be a pleasure indeed (They would still have to wait their turn!!!)

I have sang with some of the greats not formally....

Yeah, i LOVE Martina.  Seeing he at the Rodeo Gala here (front row center) i got a close up look and listen.  she was about 7 months pregnant and never missed a note!  i found new respect for her that night.

Rick is actually from this area and went to school in Round Rock ISD, just north of here.  He was very friendly albeit tired from his show next door.  It was very informal and impromptu to say the least.  I guess maybe Austin is a bit different feeling for celebrities because there are so many here.  Quintin Tarentino, Sandra Bullock, Matthew McConaughey, Willie Nelson, Lance Armstrong...to name just a few.  Folks just treat them like normal people.  It's just not uncommon to see someone on the street that you saw on television last night!
