:rotflmao: if nothing else, it just proves again that white boys look like frogs in a blender when they dance!

So are these karaoke videos illegal?

I thought as long as no one is charging admission, or making a profit from the performance, it would be legal...

Anyone care to shed some light on this ?

They are going after dancers too.

Assuming the bar paid the fees for that public performance and when I played it Im sitting in the privacy of my own home. Where is the public performance?

As more and more karaoke singers find out how out of control they are getting and start screaming to their congressman maybe we can stop this snowball.

Well the thing these UTUBE sumbitters are overlooking is PHOTO RELEASES giving signed authorization to have their "PERFORMANCE" broadcst to the public. Its the same thing for photos----better have a release--or at least permission to post the pics up or you can get into legal trouble. Thats why I dont put pics up in the gallery anymore---too much trouble trying to get releases.

I see your point curt But there are FCC laws that the broadcaster has to get permission from those that are video taped Usually a perfomer is under contract.

The streaming is done by youtube but the video or photo is uploaded by user. I can post anybodies photo on my web site with their permission.

The actual artist gets such a small percentage of the cut in the music industry.
I say, use todays technology to our advantage and cut out all the Pimp slime bags.

With todays technology, you don't have to have a studio anymore.
You don't have sell your soul to the machine anymore.
The artist can use places like YouTube and Internet websites to promote their own agendas.

When someone creates a righteous tune, the work speaks for itself and will become its own entity. With the advent of the internet, the door is wide open for the creative process to travel into the eyes and ears of the masses.

No longer does one have to be bound to greedy managers, radio stations, record companies...ect...

What has been lacking int he past, is that the music industry has been so tightly controlled, no one could get their creative message out there unless it was in some corporations best interest.

That is why so many no talent, goofballs get rich while extremely talented musicians waste away in their tiny apartments, living off coffee and cigarettes. This is the reason I gave up music 30 years ago....

The internet and places like YouTube has changed all that.

It makes me wanna puke when I read about a 12 year old girl getting in trouble for lip syncing to one of her favorite songs on YouTube.

This just about kills my desire to even want to do karaoke at all.

But at the same time refuels my desire to produce the songs I wrote so many years ago that lave laid dormant....

All it takes is one of your songs to get popular.  One can even press their own CD's.

Look at Authors...they don't have to go to Publicists anymore now.  They can print their own works...they don't have to have huge stockpiles of books printed.  They can print them as they need them.  Same goes for musicians making their own CD's.

Times are changing and the more they try to lock the door, the more people are busting it down....

I think I am going to buy Cakewalk Studio 6....been wanting it forever....
