Hey Babs !! You hear what Johnny said ? You gonna let him get away with that
Quote: I admire Babs for that.
Oh I wasn't condescending on her. She's got A LOT more balls than I do. Of course sitting here at the computer chair typing non-stop has sort've shrunken mine.
Although I have been known to ride my bike. and Yes, I REALLY do have one of these, same color, and it even has the carrying rack on it. Opened her up and got her going about 11 mph once before the chain feel off !
When A man has one of these ! He's not afraid to flip off bikers !!!

Nope, didn't buy for two reasons.
A...Not in stock presently, but arriving next week
B...The jerks wanted almost 14K for a bike that has a MSRP of only 9.5K....DUH.
So I'll shop out of state next couple of months....I ain't in no hurry.

Good plan. So they're gouging the price ? Demand up, supplies down, rip-off the consumer (if possible) type mindset

Exactly what the specs say to MSRP as you stated
http://www.dicksharleydavidson.com/new_ ... otorcycles
That does suck. From looking at the Harley Brochure, what they are doing is pricing it in the upper end of the "Dyna" makes, and way out've the Sportster range

No big deal....I expected it...everyone told me local dealer was a stealer.....most folks here go to Texas to buy their bike, but I had to hear it for myself.
Hey....This way I get to schedule an overnight to Texas with sleasy tattooed friend or two.....Things work out, you know?.....Then you work it back in. ![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif) ...The more it works out, the more it gets worked back in. ![worship :worship:](./images/smilies/emot-worship.gif)

Yep. But aren't those local dealers in the business to SELL BIKES ? How the heck do they stay in business, people pay those jacked prices ? What you need in that location are a few of my cheapskate yankee neighbors and relatives... They'd lower their prices, or fall on their faces.. Folks have the money but everybody wants "A deal"
<I should shutup, when it comes to padding the pockets of a dealer I know is trying to take me for a ride I'll go out've my way to buy elsewhere despite whether or not I end up paying even close. Just out've principle.. However, for some items I'll pay higher prices to support a smaller local merchant.. In this case however.. 5K is too friggin much a difference IMHO, especially when it's 5K OVER the MSRP>

Oh man I went to a dealer today and saw the most perfect new bike for me. A Yamaha V star Classic. My ideas of a Harley have just been squashed. I love the idea of a Harley, but Harley doesn't make a motorcycle that fits a woman as good as these foreign bikes. It's low to the ground, light weight, smooth clutch release and the handle bars sit perfect for my short arms. What a smooth ride too. I think I'm hooked. Maybe someday when I feel like I can handle a 700lb bike I'll get a Harley, but until then this Yamaha has my vote.

Steven, you should be ashamed asking her volumetric capacity....That is a very personal question
Babs, every motorcycle made fits most women perfectly providing they remain seated behind the guy driving it.
Steven, please forward Bab those motorcycle pics I sent you recently.....I think she needs a refresher course ![High 5 :hi5:](./images/smilies/emot-highfive.gif)

True, I should've clarified that I wasn't refering to her size, but was more curious as to what she can handle between her legs ! Sorry for the misunderstanding Babs, didn't mean to appear so personal, I should've thought about my phrasing like Keith stated !

Speaking of which, I could use a little something between my own legs.. Maybe when gas prices come down more I'll get a moped. Unless I can get a larger bike with pedals I don't have a motorcycle license, and I'm too lazy to get one, probably couldn't do the right turning figure 8 anymore anyway, I'd dump the bike and break my leg at DMV

Quote: Harley is a foreign bike
Nah, I don't think so, They are American based and have plants all over the world I believe but I know nothing about Bikes). I think Harley is a U.S. Stock, and has been based in Milwaukee Wisc. for years and years as has Buell. There're international Harley riders clubs but I seriously doubt Harley would give up it's "U.S.A" icon status.. It's not just a motorcycle, it's CULTURE dude !!!! Probably like Indian, and a few others companies American (at least assuming you are in America buying the bike). For some strange reason I recall even my OLD Hodaka from the late 60's being American ?????? (of all things, strange, yeah, but...don't really recall)..
Do Norton and Bridgestone still make bikes ?

Nice bike Keith. Just a bit smallish and overpriced for sure.
I have my mind set on a Harley in the near future, but it'll have to be a used one. There are plenty of used or used up older Harleys in the 10k or less price range out there.
Mine will have to be a behemoth bike though....Sportsters are chick bikes. But I wouldn't turn down a good deal on one. Hell, you can find an older 1200 Sporty for 5k or less.
I'm thinking more of a big tourer like a Heritage Softail or Road King Classic with bags for some overnighting.
Speaking of Jap bikes.......this weekend, a bro-in-law of mine let me cruise his '04 Kawasaki Nomad 1600 Classic. It was a Cadillac!!
I said wifey...plant your a$$, we're ridin'!! YEEEEHAAAAAA!!
It was very impressive!! I haven't ridden for years, but still have my license.
It had a nice lower seat height, floorboards, heel/toe shifter 6-speed, shaft drive, highway pegs, windshield (annoying), smooth, comfortable ride, and it was a torque monster!!
Looked almost like a Harley, but doesn't sound like one....that's what gets me. That's why I like Harley....the sound and rumble.
Other bikers waved at us....I beeped the horn.
That just got me revved up even more to start saving for a bike. I don't want to finance one. Why pay extra?
Good luck in your search! ![wave ](./images/smilies/emot-wave.gif)

johnny reverb @ Tue 04 Sep, 2007 wrote: http://www.goingfaster.com/angst/noharley2.html ![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif) That was funny as hell JJ.
But I also noticed that it was written by a sportbike rider.
It's probably all true though.
Most older people like myself don't really care about riding at breakneck speed on the streets. I just want a cruiser that stays planted to the ground at all times.
It is true that the Jap cruisers are dependable and fun to ride. Hell, There's a Kawasaki plant in Nebraska. Assembled by Americans and/or Mexicans I suppose.
I wouldn't be ashamed to own one. They are super nice!
That dude must've had a bad experience with some HD riders before.
Whenever I finally get mine, they can fly by me all they want to. I'll be having fun just riding, working on it all the time, and being a proud owner of American history.
Though I might have to glue my teeth in to keep 'em from rattling out. ![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif)

Keith. Just took a ride on a Screamin Eagle. My friend told me you should hit Beaumont Texas where there's a Retail dealer who sells at Harleys suggested price, not a jacked up price.. and supposedly he's a decent guy.. MANY places in your area pull the over suggested retail stuff apparently but in the Northeast they can't get away with it as easily around my area.
