Well, Milo, you should try it! Lightweight backpacking technology has made backpacking in 2007 much easier and way more comfortable....we could do a trial run in my backyard!  LMAO  :reddevil:

Ummm, yeah Lordair, I'm talking wilderness type stuff.  I like backpacking because you can go places nobody else can go, except maybe hounds or possibly horses... "Are there any horses in your new film, or hounds??"

I've never been backpacking. I have been hiking and I climbed Little Mt. Si once in North Bend, WA. And I camp and fish. I suppose backpacking would be like going on a much longer hike/camping with all your gear strapped to your back.  I could be up for that at least once, just to give it a try. I bet I would like it. But you are a bit too far away for me to backpack with you and there isn't much in the way of places to do that here in North Texas unless you wanna backpack on the hiway on the way to Karaoke at the next bar, in which case your pack would be very light and would probably only need to consist of a flask strapped to your belt....LOL

yeah, north texas, kinda flat, huh?  I always carry a flask of "cough syrup" with me when I hike.  Give me a shout if you come up north east, we will go back packing! I'm getting ready to start my next job so probably no back packing for me until next spring, so I sufficed myself by going on an overnight canoe trip on the Clarion river in PA with my cousins and buddy.  may be a pic on my profile page soon if I'm not to lazy.....

Jim, since you mentioned Montana, here's an idear:

http://www.homestead.com/peaceandcarrots/Montana.html

That's about the best website I found to give you an idea what it looks like up there, but you could google more info.

I've never "backpacked" it, but my mom used to live on Fish Creek Rd, just outside of Alberton, Montana, and her property butted up against BLM land. She worked at Hole In The Wall, as a hostess... and when visiting her, I fished, drove, and hiked all over those mountains. It is some of THE most gorgeous country you've ever seen. And it must have been a place where lots of people homesteaded... there are old abandoned log cabins back in there as well.

(but... pack a pistol, Lol, it's got every kind of wildlife in there you can imagine too... bears, coons, elk, deer, moose, grouse, wolves... you name it)

And if you're into fishing, most definately pack your fly rod;)

sweet pics.  I was supposed to go to the Crazy Mountains in Montana, not exactly sure where they are.  A friend of mine and I were going to go.  But he didn't have enough time.  Is that them? (the crazys).  Anyway, that's why we went to the adirondacks and not the Crazys.

Nope, not the Crazys.. the Bitterroot Mountains. This is is western Montana, apparently the Crazy's are in central.  Like I said, I never backpacked in, but I've been there and can attest to what a gorgeous place it is.. and apparently, alot of people do backpack into Hole In The Wall... I just threw the links up to give you an idea of the place.

Tell ya what... since we share a birthday.... in May of 2009, I'll be 41, and you'll be 39... we can go backpack it together to celebrate being young/getting old. LMAO

Ah, I'm sure the day I turn 40, reality will hit me like a ton of bricks, and I'll spend the next couple years crying my eyes out. I'm sure my back will start hurting, my knees will give out, and I'll find a gazillion ailments I "think" are affecting my life.  LOL

I wouldn't be able to "console" you, I'd most likely be telling you what a god-awful ripoff it is that we all have to turn 40 sometime in life.  :D

But, in the meantime.. getting back to your original post.. when you DO decide where you're going to backpack, have lots of fun. And post pics here for all of us.

(as long as it's BEFORE my 40'th birthday, I should be able to still SEE the pics clearly)

Charmin, save a boat load of tears for turning 50!  LOL   And 50 is when the imaginary ailments end up real and in living color! Enjoy the 40's!!!  :oh yeah:

Enjoy..... my arse. I want to be.....

Let me see, I don't know WHAT age I'd want to stay at.

I'm thinking maybe 25-28. Yeah, that's a good number, somewhere around there.

Maybe even 32, I kinda like that number. But not 40...   .... never. People get dull and whiney when they reach their 40's. Not this gal, I'm just gonna keep acting like it never happened.

Anyhow, I'm TOTALLY scalping Jim's thread.

(sorry Jim, wont happen again)   :(

I don't care!  Whatever makes the ladies happy.  Hijack away.  I want all the hot women on my threads! (I guess if this were the 70s, that would have 2 meanings, huh?  :O )

Hijack... yeah, that's the word I was looking for. Why did I say "scapling"?  LMAO

(must be the Indian side of me coming out, Lol)

Okay, so if this avatar is gonna keep people thinking I'm a "hot woman", I think I'll keep it up indefinately;)

and p.s.... if you really want all the hot women on your thread, put the words "mud wrestling" in the title of it.

LOL ...... Yeah, I guess you're right. Gosh, some of those 70's sayings were dorky as hell..... I'm glad I was just a youngun' back then.  :D

We do.  They've migrated down the Berkshires to where I live in the foothills.  Black Bear.  I really hope I don't accidently walk between a cub and mom..  If I'm not here for a few hours you'll know I got mauled
