Granting that some people appreciate different versions of different songs, has anyone ever run across a site or database of use submitted best versions, so we as KJs know which ones to absolutely stay away from, or be able to find that diamond in the rough on a popular song where the popularly played version might stink?

Who would be the one to say which is the best version?  Example, I Hate Myself For Loving You - Joan Jett, I have a BMB/Nikkodo (this one was first as it wasn't available anywhere else), then I bought the Sound Choice version about 3 years later.  The SC version is far superior in sound quality & lyric accuracy - but the ones that 'grew up' on the SAV version didn't like the better version.
I hear people in here all the time claiming their Music Maestro Sweet Georgia Brown versions are far superior to anything while others think they are by far the worst & wouldn't even bother listing them as they are so bad.

Best method is listen to them your self, musically & lyrically & pick from there.  I wouldn't trust a database that already had the version they felt was best marked.

i have never heard of one. Mainly for the reason you said. Different people like different versions for different reasons. Most people rank brands.

That's probably the best way to approach it then.  We all know some songs are bunk.  Others are as close to the original as possible.  Is there a site or a database that offers ranking?  Might be something worth considering, eh?

If a CB song is ranked over a SC by 50,000 to 3,000 wouldn't you rather have the CB in your files over the SC?

Anyone ever seen such a thing?
