Ok Im not a real fred (stage name) but I am a real Dr.
I started using an alias singing karaoke about 6 years ago, and many of my karaoke friends know me by that name.
I am making the transition to become a KJ, as the KJ at my favorite bar moved.
The Bar has given me about a month to get ready, and I am buying songs and getting them ripped into my computer.
I am attempting to do the best possible on a 5k budget, (I will be using the bar's PA system, so that will result in about 4k going to the songlist after Mics (sure 58s x3 and 19" flatscreens x2 and I already have a laptop).
I have decided to attempt to get quality songs as much as possible. This means a lot of Sound Choice and Zoom, although I have purchased the Sweet Georgia Brown set.
My target Initial songlist is going to be 3,000 songs, sure it is a bit light but I don't want to buy a bunch of bad versions in bulk.
I am attempting to do this all legit and have bought copies of all songs as much as possible.
On the other hand, my crowd is largely an Indie rock group, and much of the songs they want are obscure, so I may end up ripping vocals from a few songs that can not be found as Karaoke versions.

Hello Doctor Fred,
I am going to guess that you are not a medical doctor. Is this correct ?

I envy those of you with the capacity for the depth of quantitative science involved in Molecular Microbiology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Conservation genetics and Biochemistry.. TOUGH TOUGH areas !! I can't absorb it
To you Mendel might be a classic geneticist, but to me he's a dead classical musician
(that's the depth of my science humor) ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
