Chuck,   Mine didn't download but that aside,  are Buffalo still endangered and protected as a species in the U.S. ?   I'd imagine that's one VERY costly pet !  They were near extinction in the 70's, and heavily guarded.. Not sure about today

Sorry about the slow or no load problem. It's loading on my system but I think it might require Windows Media Player. It also starts with an advertisement.

Try this link.

I hope that one works.

As far as being endangered, this link says they are.

Chuck up here it is big business

A rancher up here had a fairly large herd on the north side of the highway. They neededmore grass so they spent a day and moved them to the south side of the highway. Next morning they were gone. They walked thru both fences and went back to the north side where they belonged!!! He was pissed!!! LOL

Another interesting link

That's funny.  People seem to think because we are such a physically weak species, other critters are as physically imcompetent.  In terms of physical strength we are quite pathetic as a species tho.  Chimps average 7X stronger, and why fools think that an aquarium and a cinderblock or two can keep their pet 12 foot python contained to it's 125 gallon aquarium is just stupid.

For some people, the swift and nearly total destruction of the continent's largest living mammal came as a shock

This is an interesting article.  You'd think after our foolish species killed off Brontosaurus by believing they can be parked in the garage in the 1960's we'd
have learned that certain species have special needs, they can't all adapt to our wishes, and life-style.  Take this case

LEXIS: CASE# 7639  ASPCA Vs.  Fredrick Flinstone   Bedrock South Dakota

Yet people still don't get it !

No, I don't still have him. But yes, I had a baby bull, his name was Merle.

No worries though, I'm gonna go get another. Heck, I already have the pen built outside my bedroom door.  :D  I got some insider info from a local cattle rancher about exactly what to feed him the first week. (got a good recipe) Seems if they don't have a good week of colostrum (or.. this recipe that is close) then there's no chance they'll make it anyhow. So, next time will work out better. They say these auction calves rarely make it... but I'll know what to do next time. (i had bought a store brand colostrum product, but only gave him that initial serving... didn't know any different) You'd think I would, I was raised on a cattle ranch. BUT.... it raised beef cattle, and babies were always tended by the mamas. We never dealt with having to raise them ourselves. (and I didn't do anything with them anyhow, my dad and the workers did)

But yeah, I've had two baby calves over the last 6 years or so... it's about time for number 3. I want Tucker to have one.

(but wouldn't a baby buffalo be cute as hell?) haha

After 3 days they can do without colostrum just a good supplement. A buff calf would grow faster and eat ya out of house and home!!!! Never did raise one although a lot of them around..  A buff would be more profitable tho.. Hmmm....

Tuck needs one of these..

I studied all about Buffolo, and as cute as they are when you get them young for easter,  they can be menacing when full grown around mating season when they get the horns !

This is why in CT, we jewish folks aren't allowed to celebrate Easter. There's nothing Kosher about having one of those horny little monsters running around your house.

They can only stampede in groups. That spells conspiracy which is a punishable offense. They don't want that kind of trouble.

Oh.  Well still,  I'd need a larger condo for a pet like that.

I wonder if they allow buffaloes as pets in New York. I doubt that Connecticut does.

Yeah,  They all live in one place,  and have a city named especially for them.  They used to live in Yonkers but there were complaints by people that had to share an elevator with them.
