Prior to karaoke I have sang in many bars and beer gardens beach parties around the world. After karaoke I tried to remember them all but couldnt remember some Probably 35-40 Now at one time I lived within walking distance of a bar that had karaoke 7 nights a week Sometimes just put on the old big laser discs and pass a wireless down the the bar to singers and whatever came up you had to sing. A lot of coffee and cokes.

This spans 4 states from Cheyenne Wyoming to Branson Missouri.. The one bar I sang in Branson I took a bunch of cd's in Out of impulse I asked the hosts wife if she wanted to sing picture OH you got it? She totally blew me away She was the opener for one of the local shows.

I have met many good singers and made friends just as we did in dart leagues or pool leagues. I can go to any town in the world go into a karaoke bar and have friends in minutes. It is a very special culture and when people want to regulate it or anything in that fashion I come unglued..

It is not a fad but in constant change and learn how to adapt.. It is more sophisticated than a bunch of drunks trying to sing If you still believe that then you are in the dark ages or you havnt been associated with karaoke very long.

So how many??

Probably about 70-75 locally over a 18 year period.  Most of which no longer have karaoke or exist anymore.

Ive lost count. But I sing at a new place every month or more(do the math). And always on the look out for new places that Ive not been inot before. Thats ongoing. Sang in LA, Anaheim, Los Alamitos, Burbank, SF, PDX, Tillamook Oregon, Seattle, Tacoma, Burien, Honolulu, Kona, Vegas, Vancouver, Olympia. Dont even remember the names of most of the places anymore--its become just a big blur----------most recent was Holiday Inn at Wilsonville Oregon, C & I Tavern in Tualatin Oregon and Clackamas County Fair in Canby, Oregon(this last week). This over the last 6-7 years.

(Edited -- I did a better count.)

At least 83 in a two year period, which is how long I have been singing. Most of them only once, but quite a few multiple times. I always try and go to a new show I hear about, and I travel a lot. Lonman is the only one I have visited amongst the people on the forum.

Cincinnati area -- 29
S.E. Indiana -- 14
Florida - 9
Washingon St. -- 6
Illinois - 6
Utah - 3
British Columbia - 3
Oregon - 2
Idaho - 2
Saskatchewan - 2
Yukon - 2
Alberta - 2
N.W. Territories - 1
Arizona - 1
Wisconsin - 1
Wyoming - 0 (couldn't find any karaoke at all within 75 miles of Yellowstone)

I am with luck going to add about 7 in Pennsylvania over the next couple of
weeks. If anyone here is in the Philly area or the Poconos, PM me and I will come to your show!

I will be out no later than Feb. 2009, and probably sooner. I make a minimum of one trip every two years to Seattle-Tacoma area, and sometimes it is annual. I may make it sooner because I found so much good karaoke when I was there....8-)

I am looking forward to seeing your new computerized setup!

On about my 12th different venue now locally. I'm trying to find one that I really like both sound and crowd wise to make that a regular weekly thing. :)

Lost count....but i do know exactly the ones i won't sing at...seems the bad ones stick out more then the good ones. I've sang in barns, basements, dives, gun & knife clubs, biker bars, strip joints, redneck cowboy bars, greasy spoon resturants, grocery store openings. ...and with the many bands i've played with over the years, it's been even worse. No one has really sang karaoke untill you have sang at the "Golden Dove". We use to call it .."The Golden Dive"...i'm sure the place is gone by now. We use to sneak out and visit the strip joint across the street, and leave the waitress running the show..untill we snuck back....

LMAO This is to much for my brain to calculate. I can say it has been several different states and towns. I don't think I've ever seen one show run the same. Very few are run to my exact liking, but I usually have a good time. I usually go into it realizing it won't be run right.  LMAO So I'm not disappointed.

Over about 5 years...

Athens, Georgia:
12 (only 4 still currently have Karaoke).
it kinda breaks down as
bar 1- 200 times
bar 2- 80 times
bar 3- 20 times
others <5 times each.

Bar #1 moved and the crowd has changed, bar#2 lost their KJ.

I am now learning to be a KJ (getting a song list together, and choosing equipment) I have an agreement to work at bar #2 in a month.

California  1.

Costa Rica 1

I sang my first song in a bar visiting California last week. Strange thing was, half way through my first song total strangers were photographing me singing. It was a good feel to get away from my regular karaoke singing group and still be liked.

Few enough that I've got space to list them.  So I will.

(Champaign, IL)
Bentley's
The Phoenix
Tracks
House Lounge
Memphis on Main
Huber's
Pia's
D.R. Digger's
American Legion
Sappy's
White Horse Inn
Jillian's

(Urbana, IL)
Bunny's
Geo's Chill & Grill
The Brickhouse
American Legion

(Savoy, IL)
Senator's Pub

(Tolono, IL)
Radmaker's
C.J. Dane's

All these places are basically in one city.  Champaign and Urbana are twin cities and Savoy is connected to Champaign like a suburb.  Tolono is about ten miles south of Savoy.

Been there! I forgot DR Diggers, so I have 7 in CU.

Bunny's had karaoke? Let me guess, they did new wave there? As long as the new wave was George Jones following Hank WIlliams, that is....

Yup, all those too.

I have no idea how many I have sang at. I do know that I have sang at just about every state in the union except Hawaii and Alaska.  And I have sang there  multiple times.. I have been singing regularly for about 10 years and every new city I go to I find a place to sing.. So I would have to say well over 100 places, probably more.. And locally every time I hear of a new place I am there......

You can now place me in the obsessive Karaoke category.. Or the junkie category. Heck, I think I am one of the people on this site that has met the most people from this site due to traveling and looking for a place to sing...
