Hey guys.

Coming back here and reading on, I realized that, yes, maybe my ego is more active than I'd thought.
Here's why......last Friday night, I went out to karaoke when I was away on my job. That's the only time I ever go out to karaoke.....my wife doesn't like the bar scene, and I'm not so fond of it myself either. It's just the only way to get out and sing live I guess.
Well, I started out with a mellow country love song. After which, I noticed some of the younger crowd was doing rock and stuff creating more of a party like atmosphere. I felt a little embarrassed that I kept it so mellow.....even though a couple did dance to my song.
So what'd I do next? I went out and brought in my Soundgarden tracks even though I stated to the kj earlier that I wasn't going to do any screaming songs tonight.
This particular bar has always made me feel much at ease while facing the crowd.....I've always liked the ambience of the place....it's really cool.......large, open area with neon beer signs surrounding all four walls, and the sound seems to bounce off of those walls nicely.
Anyhow, I get up to do my favorite of the 4 tracks..."Blow Up The Outside World" feeling pretty confident that I'd pull it off.
During one of the breaks in the song, out came a HUGE WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!! from alot of people. THAT boosted my ego like nothing ever had!
I went on to finish the song. Afterwards, I felt like I blew it away and got several compliments on it from others.
But really, after realizing what I just did, it seemed like I was just trying to show up the singers before me. One guy was even looking at me later while he sang like he was waiting for a nod of approval.
I've always said that I don't like to be competitive with this stuff.....it's all for fun. But when things happen like they did that night, it's the greatest feeling!
I did lose my voice later on from trying to talk to people while the music was blaring, so my last couple songs were pretty sucky.
I know the song I did earlier wasn't totally perfect, but I think people were astounded that this older dude in the Hawaiian shirt that did a country song just blew 'em all away.
There were some excellent singers there too!! Guys and gals!! It was fun!!
